Here is the most current picture of my 1954 pickup. Her name is Holiday because every Christmas, birthday, etc I am asking for parts to fix her. She is up and running and this is the first time we drove her down the lane. She does not have breaks yet, so we went VERY slow. So exciting. We are now ready to put on the front fenders and hood. I just negotiated for some used lumber to redo the truck bed. Wish it was warmer so we could work on it more. I do get the seat recovered and moving forward best I can. By summer time I should be ready to roll and go to all sorts of fun junk meets, garage sales, etc. I am not painting her. She is 62 years old and deserves to have some character, patina, and charm. A good washing, scrubbing and waxing should be just fine.

Grace, I am hoping that is what we can do this. There is already a group of woman that go to lakes and go kayaking (don't know if I spelled that right). They travel all over the state. I want something close to home. Think it is very doable.

Kem, even thou I belong to Sisters on the fly... I have several local girl camping groups that are small, informal and local... one duchgroup is "the Gold Rush Girls"... about 9 of us up here in the mountains, in Gold Rush country. We just give a shout out when we want to get together... be it for an afternoon forlunch and junktiquing or an easy peasy over nite at the fsirground'camping lot.
So.. gather up afew like minded gals and have fun.

Deborah, We have a 27' fifth wheel camper I am trying to sell. Hubby does not like to camp, so I want to down size. There are a bunch of gals that are talking about creating a camping club that would go to a park about two miles out of town and start learning how to do the camping thing. I think it would be great. If a storm comes up, need something, or whatever we can run to town or go home. A good way to learn skills and create friendships too. I want to get one before fall because there is suppose to be a vintage camper and flea market coming to the park in Sept. I would love to have the pickup and camper complete.

Yes, I plan on showing updates as we go along. I am just so excited to get her done. I hope we can get the hood and fenders on next week. The pickup bed is going to take a while. Oh well, I am going to enjoy the process. That is half of the fun.

Awesome Kem! How fun to be able to work on her and make it your very own! Hope you'll show us pictures as you make progress.

Thanks for all the comments. I am so excited to get her back together and down the road. I am still deciding how the inside of the cab is going to be. I have a tendency to want to do BOHO style. I have already recovered the seat with a faux tooled leather in a medium brown. So much work to do. Interesting, the glove box is made out of cardboard and has a couple of holes in it. I am going to keep it original with reinforcement. Soooo many possibilities. Will keep the pictures coming. I wish I had a very tiny original radio to put in it. I want a radio, but everything is soooo big. If I buy one that is reproduction of it I would be spending $200 plus. Not interested in that much money. WE may have to modify and tuck it under the dash or??????

It will be when we get it back together. Always thought of it as a bit like sewing. Looks terrible until a person gets to the last 10% of the project and then it comes together and looks good. I can hardly wait.
