OMG! look what will be moving in with our other 3 trailers...

a 1963 rear door Shasta 16' SCS trailer.

this sweet little girl will be getting new 'shoes' (tires) tomorrow,,, and then heading up the mountain to her new forever home with us.
We are so excited to find one of these, especially in the good (dirty) condition it is in.
It has a rear kitchen w/a grey stove (color scheme at the time was pink & grey)... there is a closet w/a shower & potty, and it has twin beds...

Also has the original tail lights and wings...
I forgot to take interior photos, but I will soon as we get it home and obliterate the cobwebs... and toss out the ugly foam mattress/beds.
Pretty clean on the outside, no sags, no water damage.
The inside needs a good cleaning, sanding and re-varnishing.
Mostly elbow grease... no water stains by the windows or ceiling... we are guessing that for the majority of it's life it was stored out in a Barn or Lean-to.
I can hardly wait... and yep, gonna stay with the original colors of grey & pink.
Doing the Happy Dance![:

Did you try the Trilliam co in Canada. They may have the right wheels.

Don't give up on the wheels...
Have you checked out 'wrecking yards' in the state of Indiana (since the Sprite was manufactured there) area???
after all,, "even a blind squirrel gets lucky and finds a nut!"... lol!

Awwww . . . I've been wondering about the the '49-er.

I've had mountains of trouble finding wheels for my Sprite. They are made by Caravans International, which was started in the UK in the 50s. In the 70s they had a plant in Indiana (which is where mine was built) that no longer makes them. The company still makes trailers in Europe.
BUT, the wheels are a bolt pattern size NOT made in the USA and not available from anywhere. It is possible to get wheels off of 90s models Subarus that fit. I have a pair from a 90-something Subaru Brat that are the correct bolt pattern but the offset is too wide so they still don't fit . . arrrgghhh! We're not done hunting, but the "Reiver's Rest" isn't going anywhere until next year again anyway!

Have fun with your Shasta! Fix 'er up purty . . . for me! (hee, hee)

the 1949 Viking Cub Cruise is a tuff one as we can't find much info on it... In 1950 the Viking company sold their land in Anaheim to Walt Disney for the future Disneyland Park...
Then the brothers stopped producing trailers in 1951 and focused their attention to Midget race cars...
Tim Heintz over in Florida, and Jurgeon Eichmuller were a great source of help with as much info as they could give me... I am actually thinking of having the Viking shipped up to Retroluxe to be restored,,, they quoted me a price of $7.000 which is for interior restoration and some minor exterior,,, so that project will have to wait until next year...
As for the Shasta,, it is a basic, simple repair,, mostly cosmetic. Thank goodness.

yep,,, call me 'Lucy'... but I always have my "Ricky' to get me outta the jams and hair brained ideas... not to mention he is such a good sport about it... and as I type this,,, he is out in the trailer vacuuming and washing down the stove...

We'll 'bug bomb' it tonight,,, let it air out all day tomorrow and start working on it this weekend... just need to make a List of what to do 1st, 2nd & 3rd...
The exterior will be the last project.. getting the inside cleaned up, minor repairs and new varnish will ne done first and then I can start on the décor...
Hopefully by Spring I will have her ready for her 1st outing...

Grace, this new addition is going to be a winner next season! I like the inside layout and the amenities. Grey and pink sound so 1950s perfect! Enjoy!!

Grace you're the only woman I know that can go to a craft fair and a trailer follow you home. Your new trailer is soooooo cute.

Linda, I'll room with you in Grace's new trailer. I wouldn't have room for that many on our place. But she'll fix it up special.

here are some interior pics of other same type Shasta as mine. But not my pics of mine...

this is what the kitchen looks like.

twin beds,,, but our table is 1/2 that size.

brochure of our trailer...
I will post pics of ours once home and cleaned up.

Like you need another trailer, girlfriend! I haven't been able to get my one out enough and now it's time to settle her down until next summer.
I like the gray and pink idea . . . looking forward to more pics!
