Posted - Jul 29 2015 : 2:00:48 PM It was lighting sale day today, which I didn't know until I went to pay for this. But here is my gonna be "Glamping Chandelier". After some alterations and maybe painting, with some solar lights it'll be just what I've been looking for! Paid $2.50 for it! YAY! CJ

Posted - Sep 09 2015 : 5:11:02 PM I'm sad that I won't (most likely) be able to take the "Reiver's Rest" out again until next summer . . . how did it get to be September already! It's getting chilly in the mountains AND hunting seasons are starting! It's already archery season and muzzle loader starts this weekend. Soon it'll be really crazy . . . I'm not in favor of being in the woods when all the rifle seasons are open! CJ

Posted - Sep 09 2015 : 09:34:44 AM so easy to make,,, gut the wires,,, primer, paint, poke in the solar lites and add your own bling... I have aprox $9-10 invested in each including the lite fixture... the rest is labor and imagination... hang it in a sunny spot and voila' instant cuteness...

Posted - Sep 01 2015 : 1:02:24 PM oh oh oh! another idea just dtruck... what about those lil votive candle wreath thingies,,, we could put those over the 'cup' (where the light fixture goes)... or even use those 'Bobschiki" or how ever they are called, (glass w/ teardrop hanging crystals...candle wax drip catcher thingies.) that would look cute too! OMG! so many possibilities... :>)

Posted - Sep 01 2015 : 12:58:10 PM Cj,,, I LUV It! Yours came out sooo sweet... and I luv how you incorporated the ribbon to hang your garden/trailer chandelier... For the wrong way hanging arems I sort of did the same as you with this one,,, I was able to turn the arms upward... and then I hung some crystals from the curly cue thingy... but I LUV the lace and pearls... why didn't I think of that... oh wait,,, I will tell everyone I did!!! lolololol! heeheehee!
These can be so addicting... and they make our little playhouses on wheels look adorbs!
ok,,, I think I need to be on the prowl for another one,,, to paint in blue to match my Scotty... and I think I will glam it up with lace and pearls... (like someone else I know did) :>) Us crafty glampers sure do have a ton of fun! eh? hugz

Posted - Sep 01 2015 : 10:27:20 AM Thanks girls! Go for it, Nini . . . you could use it on your porch or deck or whatever you have. I'd like to put mine outside too, but I don't have a porch with a roof or protection from weather and wind. We do have a deck and that shepherd's hook in the pic is right at the edge. It is a good place to hang the chandelier, BUT the sun is intense in this climate and we have too much wind. It would be beat up in a short while. That's also why I don't have any windchimes, except for the heavy metal ones that don't get whipped around.
Anyway, it's pretty easy. If you want to paint them, be sure to look for something that works on metal or plastic, whatever the fixture is made of.
Thanks again! CJ

Posted - Aug 31 2015 : 1:07:41 PM I'm done now! If you look at my original pic after purchasing this you'll see the part that is used to hang the fixture to the ceiling. This fixture is designed to hang with the lightbulbs pointing downward, using cone shaped ceramic shades. For the solar chandelier I needed the lightbulbs to point upwards so I removed the ceiling mount and the cord, turned it upside down and fixed it to use that way. This first pic is of a purple glass bead and Celtic design silver bead to "plug" the hole that the cord came through. It will be on the BOTTOM of the chandelier.
I found some napkin rings, which were a very shiny gold (not what I wanted) spray painted them the ivory, but decided to leave them that color and not paint them the pale sage color. Glued them in the bulb holders, glued some ivory lace (which matches what I've used in the glamper trailer) around them and them some ivory beads around that . . . wanted to fill in the gap between the edge of the fixture and the bulb holder area.
Here is it all ready to use outdoors. It'll hang nicely from our canopy or the rock guard on the front of the trailer when it is set up. I was going to use swag chain for the hanger but decided on ribbon instead so the chain didn't rub on it and mess with the paint job!
Looking forward to using it. I'll only use it at home when we have something special going on in the yard! I don't want the weather to beat it up . . . or the birds to poo on it! CJ
