Posted - May 18 2015 : 09:40:50 AM Anyone else have a hubby that is reluctant to go camping with you? My father gifted me the most beautiful 28 foot camper with all the bells and whistles. I am in love with it and want to spend every waking moment in it. Hubby, however, is not as excited as me. It's almost like he is afraid of using it. He has pulled horse and stock trailers his whole life, so I know he can handle backing it and such. I just can't figure out what is holding him up.
Trust me, I can handle taking it out on my own. I just really love being around the guy. *G*

Posted - May 20 2015 : 08:23:12 AM DH and I use to tent camp when we were young(er)... then we got our 1st trailer,,, and vacationed in it,,, as we got older & our lives got busier we somehow got away from camping, then it was fly/hotel vacations... I view camping differently now,,, it's my time to be silly and have fun,, as for my hubby, he is not totally onboard with 'dry camping'... but will go camping as long as we full amenities in our trailer... (potty)... Now that we have our '65 Silver Streak we have literally lived in it for almost 3 months,,, moving,,, searching for , buying and waiting for Escrow to close... (we parked on my uncle's ranch,,,) DH Does Not want to do that again! but is willing to spend a week camping,,, as long as he can go fishing... and I cook the fish! lol! Hubby said he has camped all his young life and tho' he has great memories,,, he prefers a nice hotel room... I thing he just doesn't want to be away from the 'tv remote' for more than a day! lol!
So bottom line, some hubbies enjoy, others, not so much.. but we luv them just the same...
plus,, I am 'Gypsy... and he is a Nester... lol!

Posted - May 19 2015 : 11:56:40 AM My hubby loves to camp, however, together we go tenting. Our little glamper trailer is for my daughter and I to glamp in and too girlie for hubby and too small for both of us.
If you can just convince him to go once, perhaps that'll "sell" him on the idea. Hang in there! CJ

Posted - May 19 2015 : 08:15:05 AM My husband is also not as adventurous as I. He doesn't even want to go to Northern Minnesota and rent a nice, cozy, *heated* cabin. Sometimes the amount of persuasion I have to do is not worth the trouble so I will eventually go on my own. My husband wants to be in a place he knows and is comfortable. He is somewhat socially phobic whereas I am NOT. Eventually I end up going on my own even though I would love the share the experience with him.

Posted - May 18 2015 : 1:58:16 PM I can identify! My Hubby's idea of roughing it is Holiday Inn. He hates to vacation. He hates to go anywhere. I have not got a camper yet, but it is on my list. He will grump some, but in the end I will get a camper, just know he will not want to go with me. Fortunately he has never kept me from doing these sort of things. Bless his heart.
If needed, I will camp by myself. |

Posted - May 18 2015 : 1:49:53 PM I guess there are a few husbands who don't like to camp. I'd hook the thing up, and hit the road. As Bonnie said, "Life is short." Enjoy! Marly

Posted - May 18 2015 : 1:27:22 PM I am sorry that you gals have that problem with your hubby. Mine always went with me. Maybe it is an excuse to glamp with other farmgals. Some women still don't have "permission" from their husbands to do things alone. Have fun. Life is short.

Posted - May 18 2015 : 09:55:35 AM My husband will tent camp with friends but when I mention getting a camper, he says nothing. I can tell he does not want to do that at all. :(
