My sweetheart was given this old cast iron skillet- 10 inches, my favorite size- many years ago and hadnt ever used it or figured out how to bring it back from the rusty state it ws in. It was fun to get to show him how i do it. We got it cooked in thd campfire, scrubbed and scrubbed and well seasoned, all while on another little trip to the lake this past week. My new favorite skillet!

My hubby found a Dutch oven that was supposed to have 3 legs, but one was broken off, at the local salvage yard. It also had no lid. He bought it, welded on a leg, cleaned it up, seasoned it, made a wonderful lid for it and we've used it to cook in. It's great!

Found another one (without legs or lid) in the camper I just took apart. We haven't cleaned or seasoned it yet, but it will also need a lid. Hubby is certainly very creative!

Oh Jenny!~ That sounds like my kind of project. I love my cast iron. A while back I saw somewhere that you can clean you cast iron with salt. Works really well. (after its been seasoned of course)
