Posted - May 13 2005 : 1:29:28 PM Thyme for ewe has posted on her web site some very helpful things! While investigating your site ( very nice by the way!), I discovered the instructions for the buddy burners. I immediately had the scout troop do a project night and make a batch. DH thought they weren't necessary, but I thought they would come in handy. The very next campout there was a severe fire alert and there were to be no campfires or open grilling due to the high risk. These burners saved the day for not just our troop but several others that we shared them with. The park ranger who was cracking down on delinquent fires said these were the coolest things he had seen in a long time. THANKS ROBIN! Farmgirls are prepared for ANYTHING!!!

The instructions are there. You can heat liquids and cook on them. They're light weight and portable.

Posted - May 14 2005 : 10:09:34 AM Alright girls I should know this because I was a girlscout many moons ago but what is a buddy burner and how do you make it. Sounds like something I need to know for campouts at the lake!

Posted - May 14 2005 : 08:45:14 AM You're welcome! My daughters are nine years apart so I was a GS leader, and a council employee, for many years. We started using buddy burners 13 years ago. I have a propane stove in the kitchen and a flat topped wood stove in the great room so I can always cook or heat water but still keep a buddy burner in the laundry room. You never know when you might need one.
