Found this cute, little 1971 Sprite, 10 ft. trailer sitting in the yard of some folks up the Dolores River Valley in the mountains. Took a friend up on Thursday to see if was for sale and something I'd be interested in

It was for sale!
I was interested!!

Today, my hubby and I went up and checked it over and over and over . . . did I say over! These were the nicest folks to deal with. The trailer was kinda stuck down in the very thick grass, etc. and had a lot of stuff stored in it. I called the owners last night and told them we'd like to come and look it over again, wanting to look at the underside and tires and the inside too. I was concerned about being able to do that because of the situation.

Today, when we drove in the driveway, the trailer had been pulled out of where it was, sitting there all prim and proper for me to look at. Tires aired, EVERYTHING removed from the inside, door standing open . . "Come on in, CJ!"

I fell in love!
My hubby and I looked it over, asked questions . . . and traded ONLY $400 for the title and bill of sale. Yes, ONLY $400.

It needs very little of anything except cleaning. Mostly dead flies which I can deal with (that's what all the black specks are on the pics of the inside). I saw NO mouse poo or evidence of anything else nasty and ugly, NO evidence of leaks, etc. It is cute, adorable and I'm tickled all shades of pink!!!!

It now belongs to the "4872 Glamping Farmgirls" . . my daughter and me!
Cute, huh?!!

Bonnie,
I wish I could join you girls at April's . . however, Minnesota is a LONG WAY from here. Mapquest says it's between 1200 and 1300 miles from Dolores to New Prague! I can dream . . . and be there in spirit.

April is planning a farmgirl camp out in Sept. in Minnesota. Just a thought.

I am, however, thinking about a "solo" trip sometime in August or September, before it gets too cold and before the campgrounds close for the season. We'll see how that all goes. I have a place in mind . . hmmmmmmm!

Robin and I are making plans for next summer! Unfortunately the two of us can't go out again this summer. She's a teacher and goes back to work next Monday, July 27th!

Yet another thing to do while glamping . . . go to the nearby natural hotsprings (Rico, CO) and, at least, stand in the runoff from the soaking tub and soak your feet! Felt sooooo good! We weren't prepared with swimsuits to get in the tub for a thorough soak, but it would have felt good!

The suitcase we carry our canopy rugs in. After we got home and were doing laundry, etc. "Silky", my kitty, decided she liked it on the rugs in the suitcase. (This is the large case that was part of the set my parents gave me for my high school graduation in 1966)

Tuesday, June 30th: Beautiful, sunny morning, I started the campfire, Robin started the coffee and we had eggs and toast for breakfast. Took our time enjoying the morning, the mountain air and sunshine and our breakfast. As we were sitting there, Robin said "I'm not done camping, wish we could stay longer". We finished packing up and were dong by 11 AM, but stayed there and had our lunch and then left. Stopped at the privately owned campground along the highway that sells soft serve ice cream for a sundae, enjoyed it on the porch there. It was hot back home like it had been for the past two weeks. We took our time unloading, unhitching, etc. and started laundry. So it was back to the routine with lots of wonderful memories!

Great job, experienced camper! Water seepage can get to be a big problem. So glad you're having fun. Being outdoors is great. Enjoy!

When we arrived at this camnpsite we noticed water running down into the area around the firepit and table, making mud. I thought there's gotta be a way to take care of that.

So, I became an engineer, dam builder and water diversion worker. With one of the kindling boards we had in our kindling box I used it as a shovel and moved dirt (and mud) around to make a more direct stream that flowed down and off to the side in the trees/foliage. Built up the sides facing the vehicle with more dirt I shoveled from the hillside, used rocks to "dam" it up at the bottom.
It worked! Soon there was no more water flowing into the campsite and it started drying up. And there was considerably less seeping out into the area where there was gravel.

We have a trowel in our tent equipment . . . should have brought it along, but the board worked pretty well. Problem solved!

This was a spring that just came up out of the ground, came down the hillside, turned and then disappeared into the ground again. Fresh mountain spring water!

Thank you Sara, I'm glad you're enjoying it. I have a bit more to share and will do so over the next few days.

That little hummingbird seems to know she was safe as she didn't struggle to fly away. She was very tired!

Hummingbird Rescue: We had taken our hummingbird feeder and had many wonderful visitors. One morning this little lady came in under the canopy and flew around in the peak for a long time. After a while she got tired and perched on an inside seam close to the peak. Robin got a spruce branch and holding it behind the bird got her to move down where she tried to perch on the canopy frame. It was kinda slippery and she was quite tired. I was able to reach up above her and catch her in my hand. I held her a bit quietly, Robin took her picture and I walked several yards away from the canopy and released her . . . off she flew!

: Monday, June 29th: Started out cloudy and cool and we thought it might rain some more, which we didn't want. Started the fire which was very welcome! Made coffee and by the time we started our breakfast the clouds had pretty much cleared and we had sunshine!
By the time we had our breakfast, got ourselves "together" and were enjoying the sunshine, my neighbor and friend came up with her daughter to spend a little time with us. We sat under the canopy, where her daughter said "I feel like I should be eating tea and scones and be dressed in Victorian garb"!
Robin made smoothies for the four of us after which we took off on a nice hike! It was a fun time with friends and such a refreshing dose of mountain air and scenery!
After our friends left, we made lunch and then enjoyed some afternoon time when I did embroidery, Robin did some reading and eventually we engaged in more Scrabble.
Supper time came, campfire time came and our last night! We enjoyed our tea with shared oats and honey granola bars and then eventually the last of our Noche Dessert wine!
Because of the morning dew and possibility of rain we decided to pack up the linens that graced the edge of the canopy (while they were still dry) and pack up our rugs (while they were still dry)
Off to bed . . . I was able to enjoy the stars from the Envoy windows! Tomorrow we pack up and go home
CJ

By the way . . . just before this post I shared a few more pics, be sure to check them out.
Thanks for letting me share!
