Posted - Oct 09 2006 : 1:18:50 PM If any of you ladies with wall tents would post photos, I would really apreaciate it. We intend to go primitive with our next move (possably as few as 6 months from now) and hubby is pulling for a tipi while I am trying to convince him to go with a wall tent. I am hoping if I can show him some nice homey pics of wall tents he will realise how much more comfortable (we are a 6 member family) that would be.
Thanks, Trina

Posted - Oct 24 2006 : 07:37:48 AM in the most recent issue of Backwoods Home there was a letter from a reader who raised his family for 12 years (I think, working from memory here) in THE YUKON of all places, in a wall tent....just amazing!

They have very nice wall tents, the small stoves keep them so toasty, they're a small little thing, take a few sticks of wood or briquettes? sp? and really make a nice warm spot. They also have arctic ovens, but I don't think you need one of those! jo

Posted - Oct 15 2006 : 3:40:12 PM Thankyou all for the replys. I think I have him sold, especialy when I told him that we could get a 16 x 20 wall tent (with platform) for half the cost of a 20 ft tipi...then suggested that we put up a curtain for some Daddy and Mama privacy. MJ's wall tents are just beautiful! Mary, your renactiments sound great...I have been to a few and they are just so much fun! Someday we hope to participate.

Posted - Oct 11 2006 : 8:38:11 PM Trina I love our wall tent. We spent 5 years doing Civil War reenacting in ours. It has also gone horse camping and even been used to house 8 boys who spent the night last summer. We had a hole cut in the roof for a wood stove chimney. The stove keeps it warm even in the snow. Go to Googles and do an image search. You'll find a wide variety of tents and ways to frame them. Also try reenacting sites for Civil War, Mountainmen and Revolutionary War. If you've seen the "Patriot" all those guys in the swamp were reenactors with their own tents and gear. Many lived in the swamp for the months of filming. I'll try to scan some pictures from one of our reenactments and post them later this week. We also have A-tents that work well as bath houses and outhouses.
