Posted - Dec 25 2012 : 10:47:25 AM Is anyone willing to host some tent camping. I am in Illinois and if we go camping it will be in a tent but I rather not go to a Yogi bear or something like that. I am trying to get my family to go somewhere more subdued. Honestly I would love to find a farm to stay at. Help with some of the farming or farm animals. My boys may think it is weird but they have never experienced anything less than wifi living even in our old camper. If there was someplace to fish around would also be great. I'm just hoping to get away and maybe a little off the grid too. Any suggestions in the states directly around Illinois?
God bless,

Posted - Jan 02 2013 : 04:55:42 AM Judy! You're in my neck of the woods! We take our pop-up out to Shabbona which isn't too far from you. Great fishing lake and it's very family oriented. I detest camping where there is lots of hoopla!
Otherwise we go to http://www.canoethekish.com/ we've become friends with the owners. It's very off grid. No electricity, no water, hardly any people. We've camped there and have not seen anyone other than the owners or people headed out onto the river to canoe/kayak. Oh, it's ON the river. Hubby has a rule that where ever we camp it must have fishing.
We bring our camper to Canoe the Kish - but have had friends join us with tents. If we head up during the week we're the only ones there! Very peaceful.
