Posted - Jul 03 2012 : 8:23:17 PM We had such a good time in March that we're at it again . . . TENT GLAMPING that is!!! You can read about our March adventure in the first "TENT GLAMPING" thread from March here in Outpost.
This time we are in Colorado at Priest Gulch Campground along the Dolores River about 35 miles from my home. We arrived yesterday (Monday, 07/02/12) about 11 AM and started building our "girl fort" again. It doesn't look exactly the same because we've done different things with our frills and lace.
Supper on Monday night was burgers (without buns) with fresh farmgirl grown sliced tomatos, pickled green beans, and sliced onions. For dessert 'smores . . . but ya' gotta come back for pics of that yumminess!
We were tired and went to bed in our cozy tent . . . more about that later as well. Lots more to share!!! Thanks for letting us share. CJ and Robin . . "birdie71"
Need a farmgirl-y hanger/post but this was visible to all passersby . . our sign on the car door mirror.
My doggie, Bramble, sooooo happy to be glamping with us. We bought a new chair with the mesh panel . . just for her.
Our canopy . . . "pantry" section on the left and "boudoir" in the center. There were things on the outside of the canopy and this doesn't include our tent. . . yet
The porch on our new tent . . . lacy trim all around. We LOVE the screened porch feature!
The view from our glamp-site to the right up the Dolores River
The view from our glamp-site to the left, down the Dolores River
Come on over farmgirls . . . we're about to cook supper!!
Now . . let's get "serious" about farmgirl frolicking!!!

Posted - Jul 17 2012 : 06:35:44 AM It's the folks that park in these beautiful parks/campgrounds and then hibernate INSIDE of their RVs with the shades all closed . . and only come out to get in their car to go somewhere. I just don't get it! Most of the folks we've been in campgrounds with who have RVs still do outdoor things, such as have a meal on the table outside, set up their chairs outside and visit, play games, etc. I go camping to be OUTSIDE!!! Posted - Jul 16 2012 : 8:22:45 PM oh CJ, you hit the nail on the head...no offenceto big RV owners,,,most are very nice but some (my in-laws) buy ginormous RV's to show off,,,and live in them, air conditioner's blowing, TV's blairing and they moan & groan about the bugs & heat... not me,,, i like small (easier/less to clean) and I like to be outside from sun-up to sun-down...guess it's just the little girl in me!

Posted - Jul 16 2012 : 7:28:43 PM Boy, I'm glad that our neighbors were good neighbors We were surrounded by BIG, FANCY rigs! I can only TRY to imagine how much they cost. There was only one couple who hardly ever spent any time outside of their fancy RV. However, they were not unfriendly, rude or nasty... just didn't enjoy the outdoors, which Robin and I thought was unfortunate because it was so peaceful and beautiful. But, everyone was very nice, very congenial and complimented us highly on our "girl fort"! CJ

Posted - Jul 16 2012 : 5:16:31 PM Ya, Kat, it was their loss. People compete too much here and think they have the best and frown at the ones that don't. Also, the party ones just like to annoy ones that are quiet. Hope they all woke up with a hangover and a big headache!!!

Posted - Jul 16 2012 : 12:18:35 PM We just got back from 8 days of camping. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures. With hubby, it is hard to fancy things up, but now the camper is set up in the yard, look out, sewing machine is ready to roll out some fancy stuff. Most of the people here were unfriendly and rude. Makes it hard to comunicate with them. Still had fun and lots of power walking and swimming as it was hot.

Posted - Jul 14 2012 : 10:00:43 PM Our neighbors on one side had left a day earlier then we did so we enjoyed a clearer view of the river valley. And then the next morning we ere packing up to leave when a couple with a honking big motor home pulled in to that site. They were from Oklahoma and we discovered that we had already met the lady a couple days earlier. They had been in another site and for some reason had to move. The day we met her she had come in and asked if she could take a closer look which she did and just ooohhhh-d and ahhhhh-d. She looked it all over closely, looked in the tent and told us it was just "precious". So, when they "moved in" next door and saw that we were leaving they both looked at us with such disappointment and said . . . "You're leaving? Oh, we were looking so forward to being your neighbors!" We had a nice short visit as they set up and we packed up. It's so fun meeting folks in these adventures . . . Looking forward to the next time, next place and the people we will meet.
BTW: we are still keeping in touch with Jimmy . . the gentleman from Texas that we met in Arizona in March! Shared some of these pics with him too! CJ

Posted - Jul 13 2012 : 11:13:07 AM The mountain showers come sooooooo, well you get out your handy dandy tarps and cover stuff. And, find something to do under the canopy!
The tent stayed DRY!!! HALLELUJAH!! We used this tarp to cover the screened porch to keep that area dry.
Then you just pull one over your dining/cook table and wait it out
Then you spend some time under the canopy doing embroidery or something like that. Cover up your pooch so she can have a little rainy afternoon snooze.
And then, a toast! The rain has stopped and you can pull the tarp off the table and cook supper . . . it's ALL GOOD! You can see the dry area of the ground under the canopy and the wet area. Thank goodness the site was covered liberally with nice gravel!

Posted - Jul 11 2012 : 8:03:22 PM We went hiking one morning . . before the mountain showers came. The campground elevation was at 8100 feet and we hiked further up on the Calico Trail. While we had no cell service our phones were handy for taking pictures!! "Birdie" and me
My sweet Bramble . . . what a treasure she is.
And right-t-t- there . . . RIGHT THERE . . . is our "glamp" site. Can't you see it? Seriously it is right there and we could see the top of our canopy.

Posted - Jul 11 2012 : 06:08:29 AM Hey Gracie, Bramble's pink "Princess" rug bed was at the foot my bed (the one on the right of the pic).
