Posted - Jun 01 2012 : 1:49:26 PM Like so many of my farmgirl sisters, I plan on doing alot of "glamping" this summer. I have set up my own little retreat in the backyard and I'm lovin' it. Everything in my tent with the exception of the raised Queen Air bed was purchased at either yard sales or the thrift! Hope you enjoy the pictures!
Its still a work in progress, but boy am I having fun! Will be starting to work on the "outside" area very soon- including my own claw foot tub "MaryJane" style! Thank you all for your great ideas and inspirations! I got this tent at Kmart for $130 and it has been up about 3 weeks. It has weathered some strong wind and decent rainfall and so far so good. All of my yardsale/thrifted goodies were obtained for under $100, so for a couple of hundred dollars anyone can have their very own backyard retreat! Hugs,

Posted - Jun 04 2012 : 12:05:36 PM Thanks Janet! So far it seems fine and we have had some pretty heavy wind and rain. There have been a few very small wet spots in the corners on the floor, but nothing that isnt easily wiped up. I am loving it so far, and I am looking forward to many nice summer evenings out there. Still working on the outdoor area- with my clawfoot tub MaryJane" style. I have the tub, just need to figure out exactly where I want to put it and paint the outside and set up my burners. Hugs,

Posted - Jun 03 2012 : 8:42:30 PM Laurie, That is so romantic looking. Wish we were all closer too. It sure would be fun all of us getting together, but we can do that in our dreams for now. Have fun this summer and hope it all works out and the tent holds up all summer for you.

Posted - Jun 03 2012 : 6:52:44 PM OK, Debbie, CJ, Marylyn, Nini, Marilyn, Marlee.... Come to New York- we need more farmgirls here and I would LOVE to show you around! Oh the fun we would have! I am planning it now, by day we will visit the gorgeous beaches of Long Island, and all of the farms, and historical sites, and arboretums. Then we will all chill in my backyard, have a farmgirl style barbeque, swim in the pool and then sit around the campfire, chatting the night away, before we retire to our glamping quarters! I am having so much fun setting this up, I can see it becoming addicting and my backyard becoming a tent camp! LOL Sure do wish y'all lived closer. We would have so much fun together! Hugs,

Posted - Jun 01 2012 : 6:20:51 PM YAY for you! And I'll be over . . :D!!! Was going to set up my tent and doll it all up this weekend. Had invited some girlfriends over but none of them can come . . :(. AND, tomorrow is opening day for our Farmers Market so I think I'm going to have to dream this weekend. Robin and I DO plan another trip the first week in July after we get back from our breast cancer event. So, we'll be doing it again and sharing more pics.
Laurie, it's beautiful and lovely . . peaceful and feminine! ENJOY IT!!! CJ

Posted - Jun 01 2012 : 5:46:34 PM Thanks Marlee and Marilyn! It all just boils down to determination and about $200 Bucks! As with anything else "farmgirlish", you really dont need alot of space to accomplish the same thing on a small scale- whatever your goal. That is one of the things that I LOVE about Farmgirls...we have big vision and can make it happen on any scale! Sure wish y'all lived closer so we could have a big ole farmgirl campout! Good Luck screening your property in Marilyn! Hugs,

Posted - Jun 01 2012 : 4:32:32 PM Now that looks like fun! Have a great summer enjoying your retreat! I'm still waiting for some trees and shrubs along my property line to grow up enough to screen the yard from our neighbors so I can do something along these lines in my backyard.
Cheers! ~ Marilyn
