CJ's post reminded me that I had purchased several vintage suitcases when we moved 2 times. The girls still had some, and some are very small.

One of the girls decided she doesn't need her pink one anymore - YAY! I snatched it for the next trip. I'll post a picture later.

Just got back from a road trip to Spokane and the down to Moscow to take my friends grandson out to lunch for his birthday. Of course we had to hit every quilt store and thrift store on the way and guess what did we find in a thrift store in Moscow? Yup, a vintage train case! Of course we also had to stop at Maryjane's store there--way cute! JoAnn

Thanks for the tip Grace. I found one in the last year, but dh said it wasn't in good enough condition to mess with. I passed on buying it, but should have (knowing how hard it is to find them). It was an ugly brownish color.

Hi girls,
The case from Grace, even with the shipping, was a MUCH better deal than most of what I saw on ebay . . and the case is in wonderful condition. So, THANK YOU GRACE!!
BTW: that case with everything else except food is packed in my car! Yes, it was a challenge! There IS room for my Bramble too . . she HAS to go!

check out Thrifts and also the 'shopgoodwill' online auction site.... ya just never know what you will find.....
I do find these train cases @ vintage stores and vintage shows..but they are usually quit pricey!
Oh and e-bay from time to time is a good source...but then you have to pay shipping which can also get pricey...
I just mailed a train case to Ceejay and sending it regular parcel post cost $12 just from WA to CO. but she got it in 5 days....

Some day I hope to find a "train" case to use. To be honest, I'd love to find 2 of them. I have an idea for the second one.

Well, I just found another "train case" buried in my sister's closet and hasn't been used since the year 2006. Mirror is missing and the inside needs work, but it's in relatively decent shape and . . of all things . . still has the tray! It gets to come home with me for some TLC and farmgirl creative treatment!

I was tickled all shades of pink! What baffles me is my dear husband KNOWS I've been on the hunt for these things . . . we came home from the FOTL Road Trip this summer with the ones we (my daughter and I) bought on our "boutiquing" trips. Soooooo, I'm wondering why it didn't "click" then . . . since it's been in his shop all this time. Oh well! It's mine now . . ALL MINE!!!! I know if he hadn't wanted me to have it he wouldn't have offered it to me.

I doubt I'll do anything to it that is permanent because it is in GREAT shape. Only maybe make something fun with a hankie or something to just tie around the handle.

Anyway . . could you send me an email with info on what you're trying to sell and for how much and what you think shipping would be.
Thanks much!

Okay, so I'm poking around Ebay this morning looking at this 'n' that, including vintage "train cases". I found one that is EXACTLY like one that went with the luggage set my parents bought me for my high school graduation gift. That's what they bought all their kids for high school graduation. It was "Monarch" brand and blue . . I still have the big suitcase, and I lost the middle one in our house fire in July 1994. However, I don't remember what happened to the train case.

I show my hubby the pic of this one and tell him it is the very same one I had. He says, "well, I have one out in the shop like that . . it was something my dad had an assortment of things in". So I go out to get it and it's buried out there and totally covered with dirt and sawdust, still with the things his dad put in it.

Well, it is NOT the same as the Monarch one so it doesn't match. We even thought if it was the same it quite possibly could have been mine and I either gave it to my father-in-law or something.

This is what it was . . . I cleaned it up and lookie, lookie! I have a new "train case" in very, very good condition . . it's been sitting in my hubby's shop for 4 years!

IF . . and I mean IF . . I can find another "train case" I hope to doll it up some like that. They are not easily found around here.
The one I have I found in Idaho while on our "boutiquing" trip on our Farmgirls on the Loose Road Trip.
Here's hoping.

hey kris...
for this one, I tore up pieces of gift wrap and decopauged it on w/Mod podge...
The 1st one that I made I had cut the paper to fit,(it's the one you can barly see in the background of this photo),, it was quit tricky & time consuming.. the 'torn paper' method works works easiset.

I have a couple of 'pinned' craft ideas on Pinterest for vintage luggage...

I decopaged a travel case 2 years ago and Bless MaryJanes heart, there is a picture
of it in MaryJanes magazine.

I use my 'train/overnight' cases for my trailers to store what-nots and stuff.
I use small vintage luggage to store my cross stitch lits, yarn and what evers....

Gotta love 'em.

You could turn it into a bench or nightstand too. That is super cute! I need to keep an eye out for vintage luggage. I forgot how cute it is!!!

I have an old red Samsonite make up suitcase. It's my sewing case for the Airstream. I can get many projects in it and it is always ready to go.I love it!

My friend and I are using Mod Podge to cover them with fabric. It works quite well. All the girls in her family are requesting them now. JoAnn
