Posted - Oct 15 2011 : 8:51:12 PM Last year, at our first annual campout, I camped in a large tent (sleeps 8, 3 rooms) that was lovingly dubbed "the castle". This year, I loaned out my castle to some friends for them to camp with. So, I decided to sleep in the bed of my truck for this year's campout at Jennifer Porter's horse ranch. All I can say is that, like duct tape, PVC pipe and a tarp can do wonders!!
I'm a happy camper!

Posted - Nov 16 2011 : 10:43:32 AM This is exactly what I've been thinking of making! But I'm actually contemplating on making a custom fit with canvas. I Have a box of large grommets and the tool for installing them, leftover from some boat projects. All I need is the canvas. I'm still working on making the back of my truck a little comfortable for duck hunting, we spend the night at the refuge. It can get cold, plus mosquitos. And Marc is 6'4", sleeping inside the cab is very uncomfortable! |

Posted - Oct 16 2011 : 2:16:18 PM Very clever! I love how the tailgate gives you a convenient seat to take off your boots before you get anywhere near your bedding. With a rainfly hanging down over the tailgate, that would be so great on a muddy, rainy night (which it always seems to be when I sleep in a tent). |
