My husband and his friend both 66 years young just returned from a 5 day backpack in the Wallowa Mtns. in Oregon. They had a wonderful time--beautiful weather, beautiful scenery and good food. Jim and I usually make the dehydrated meals for them. This year we made a shepherd's pie that turned out great. This is an annual event for Jim and Brian--thought it might end when we moved west from Minnesota but Brian flys/trains or drives here and off they go.JoAnn

I agree! I am 54 and still harbor a dream to hike the Appalachian Trail as a thru hike end to end. Wish I had known about it when I was young and free. But I may do it yet!
