Posted - Apr 19 2010 : 9:49:48 PM hahaha! hey terri, yep, rot is pretty much the culprit of most old/vinetage trailers demise... As you can see we have replaced nearly all of the main fram and even re-inforced some areas just because we can. Be sure to take A LOT of pics as you go along, trust me you will need them. Every time he pulled something off he would photograph it as well as make 'referrance marks' on the wood. have fun & SHow No Fear!

Posted - Apr 17 2010 : 09:50:12 AM Just the giggles I needed this morning... Tell Gary that when Tom headed out to "take a look" at "TBF" I got out the old horn and announced to the whole neighborhood that he had to "STEP AWAY FROM THE TRAILER".. Tom wasn't nearly as amuzed as our 75 year old neighbor guy who thinks I am funny!!! LOL

Posted - Apr 17 2010 : 08:56:16 AM ok, the good news is...GVR, my 1959 Aljo trailer has all new framing and a new sub-floor...hopefully this comming week,,,if it doesn't rain(like it is today) we will be able to seal coat the underside of the flooring/wood...and then hubby will put down new vinyl flooring...and then start on the birch panaling, insulation, wireing, windows, well you get the picture....
kpaints has the twin sister to my trailer and she will probablly get her's done before me 'cuz she is smart enough to work on it herself and not get crazy tearing it apart like my hubby did with mine. Oh,did I say that out loud!lol!
My hubby tinkering on kpaints trailer, "trailer trash"...Karen, don't leave him alone for a minute or your trailer will look like mine! lol!
(great painting by Paige Bridges)
hey, a gal can dream can't she? Happy Trails to you....

In the beginning...hubby was just going to do a "few" repairs...
I made the mistake of not keeping an eye on hubby....
Aacckk! I know there is a trailer here somewhere!
Your guess is as good as mine as to what my trailer will look like when she is all put back together! Happy Trailer to you & Show NO Fear!

Posted - Apr 16 2010 : 10:58:57 PM hahaha! Terri,,, my motto... "Show No Fear!" lol! We just look at everyone elses trailer, formulate ideas & then when we started to tear the trailer apart we took a gazillion pictures of everything so we would know where everything goes back...I hope! lol! Also, if you do a total tear down~repair...be prepared to be shocked at the shoddy workmanship,,,yep, even back in the 50's & 60's there were workers who didn't care about their quality of workmanship...also you will be amazed how they scrimped on material & piecemealed pieces in..... I know there are Shasta clubs & Serro Scotty clubs as well as The Tin Can Toiurist...you might want to type in "Vintage Aloha Trailer repair" in the search to see if you can find anything or "Vintage Aloha Trailer Club". You just never know what you will find. Good Luck & Show No Fear!
