There are Texas Farmgirls out there wanting to do a campout!!
The plans are coming together for a Fall Campout, in Bedias, Texas near College Station ( 30 minutes away). This will be held Oct 15, 16, and 17th, 2010.

We can eat, drink ( non alcoholic ok) and be merry, take hikes, fish, rent a boat, do our crafting, etc. Not only that, but we can BRING OUR HORSES with a negative coggins!!! There will be a Farmgirl Swap- bring an item to exchange if you wish to participate. Added to the list of activities, is a HAYRIDE!
We will be gathering items from the local food pantry..

Breakfast and lunch will be up to each Farmgirl, and dinners will have a meat item provided, with all else potlucked!
Does anyone know how to do Dutch oven cooking? That would be a ton of fun!

Yes, it would be good if we knew how many are coming and do we know what others are bringing or are we really going to do pot luck? How fun! I will bring something sweet and a side dish or two. Will there be a place where we can heat things up? I will be there on Friday probably around mid-afternoon.

So do we know how many are coming? Jennifer, were you still going to have ham and brisket for friday and saturday dinners?
I am going to make my mom's pound cake and we are going to make our famous sweet potatoes for a side for one of the dinners...
I wonder if I could get ahold of the great country bacon that my mom-in-law gets for the breakfast... Maybe we can make the great green beans my mom makes as well ... They are sooo good. Let me know what is needed... I am not sure who else is bringing what and what all is going on!

Hi, Texas girls! There has been talk in this thread about doing some sort of community support thing at our campout. I believe that donations to a local food pantry or something is a really good thing and would like to do that at our event.

I have finally found a little time to go through my Aug-Sept issue of MJF and found an article about one of our sisterhood there that caught my attention and am wondering if any of the rest of you would be interested in also making some sort of donation or something to her cause. On page 18 and 19 there is an article about Aimee Steiner and her community on her island of Rota. I know that I have some books in my stash that are not loved as well as they might be and I would be willing to donate them to the library that Aimee is building. Would any of the rest of you be interested in making book donations or donations of money so that we could send the books? I'm thinking that mostly any kind of books would probably work in a library that is so very small.

What do you think?

The link to the FOTL logo is in the latest MaryJane's Cluck, the email newsletter (August 2010). The password is there, too (page 22).

Wow, Isn't this great news ladies? I am so excited. Ladies if you could email me to let me know for sure that you are coming I can start getting a idea of how many to plan for.

I also tried to get the logo but I don't have a password to get it. Is it a special password or the one you use to sign on the forum?

I must talk to my hubby again and see if there is any way I can come.
Jennifer, is there a hotel anywhere near by he could stay at that weekend? I would need his help to get there and to set up our tent (we do living history and out tent is that type so it takes both of us to set it up).
