Ok, so just how many of you Have vintage or late model travele trailers????
Raise you right hand....

How many of you Want vintage travele trailer???
Raise your left hand...

Owning a travel trailer, teardrop, canned-ham, etc is such a trip.
The 3 best things are:
decorating them.
showing them off(bragger's rights)
snuggling down in them (Glamping)

Lisa you sure used some nice colors in your camper. Looks great. If it looked as bad as the one your dad picked up to work on next he is great. My dh and I have done things a little different. We bought a 5th wheele after he retired last year and we set out across country May 13th. Home to Washington state to Alaska then home again. We are working on our trip and time is comeing close. We hope to have a very good time and learn as we travel. Also hoping to meet and see lots of farm girls on our way. Lilly

Well, I finally have a good lead on one...just haven't made my move yet. Too many irons in the fire right now...but I think it is just waiting for me. Also, take a look at these 'wayyyyyyy toooooo cute' string-a-lights...little silver camp trailers! http://www.gypsyville.com/store/store.asp?nProductId=24614 Wouldn't they be darlin' for glamping party lights?!

Auto paint is perfect.....I plan to re-paint my Scotty this summer... Dairyprincess has a paint sprayer and she & I are gonna go for it,,,,what's the worse that can happen, I don't like it & I re-paint it...after all, Spray paint is your friend! lol!
I am thinking about having fun and not doing a traditional paint job,,,,just might get a little silly & a whole lot creative....

I read on here someone was looking for paint ideas for the outside. I painted mine with a roller Rustoleum and automotive paint for about $75. I still need to make the tongue yellow but have to wait for better weather, but it turned out beautiful! My dad is having me paint his when he gets to that point.

Grace and Heather- thank you for your kind words. :)

Hey Lisa!
Your "glamper" looks cool! I love your color choice. I'm looking for another one to fix up and want to do pinks, blues and lace this time. Have lots of fun camping, your t-shirt idea is fantastic!

Hi there I wanted to put my blog in here so you could see my vintage Shasta Compact. We found her in the mountains of PA last spring and I am finally taking her on her maiden voyage this weekend! And this past week I found my dad his own Shasta Compact where I live in NC. So I just posted pics of him picking it up this week to drive back home and start the restoration process!!

I love my lil'Lemondrop and can't wait to use her this weekend. I have made t shirts for all of us to wear that say Maiden Voyage Tour 2010 on the front and "Making memories the old fashioned way" on the back. I will post photos of our fun little weekend when we get back.

I also purchased my awning from Marti and let me tell you it was worth every penny!!

Thanks Grace. We really need the complete ensemble for both campers. The mini winnie had a good awning that had a few issues - but the wind caught it just right one day when it was set up at our house and sudden death was irreversible.

hey Ann,
my bad, sorry I didn't get over here & read this sooner...
there is a gal on the Sisters on the Fly forum who makes them, I think it's Debrorah Bolind..I think that is her name.
I know one sister, Denise #761 who made her own from heavy patio furniture fabric....and I was out shopping with Heather #1156 & she is going to try to make one as well....
I'll snoop around....& get back to ya.

Ohhh, I just check out Heather's blog too. Cute camper! Did you make your awning or find one? Ahhh, I just got my answer when I read more. I'd love to get the name of the man in CA who made yours.

Here is what I just posted under travel trailer dreams:
Well, my husband and I both have an affinity for vintage campers, but I never dreamed that I'd have 2 of them! As of last night, we now own a '66 Avion. It looks very similar to an airstream. It needs some clean up, but it is cute and a little bigger than our first one. My husband promised that we would finish some home and 1st camper projects before working on the 2nd one. The first camper is a '63 mini winnebago.

Grace, I'm wondering if you could recommend a source for awnings. I'd be tempted to sew my own but it is a little daunting. I really like the awnings that are pictured on the sisters on the fly website for Sister # 823. She has 2 campers pictured. Thanks!

For Christmas, my sweet husband built me a mini replica of our camper as a birdhouse. I'll post a photo when I have more time. He used cad to trace the exact shape of it, and then painted it the way we plan to paint the real one this spring. It was a great surprise!

Oh Susan,
just go on line & search vintage teardrop trailer plans....you'll find scads of them.
On my last Sister's on the Fly outting one of the gals had her '58 Aljo & her daughter camped in her sweet little mini tear drop reproduction that her hubby built...she even towed it with her cute little convertable VW bug.....I think there is a pic on one of my blogs...I can't remember if I posted a pic here in the Outpoat thread, if so it might be several pages back.
Hugz & go for it!
