We finally got a 1967 Ford Mustang. I've wanted a classic Mustang for years but money never seemed to stay around long enough to get one. Actually we bought it with our 14 year old son. He gets it in 2 year and we get to drive it until he's 16. Now I have 2 years to get the money together to buy one for me.
We're going to our first Mustang Car show in Bellvue Wa next weekend. But mostly we just enjoy driving it around in the evenings.
Does anyone else have a classic muscle car?

Congrats, Mary, on the car. I bet you are going to have a hard time parting with it when your son turns 16!

AimeC, I understand about the driveway. The collection reads like a car lot. 2 Jeep CJ's, 1 Ford PU, 2 Toyota PU's, 1 Elcamino, 1 Corvette and my trustee new/old vintage camper. If the kids ever leave home I'd have a lot more room thats for sure. Lucky for me hubby has put his TBucket in the back out of sight. I've never used my garage .......you know car parts and tools do need a home!
I can't complain to much they leave my sewing room alone.

I wish my husband would pick just one car and stick with that one.
He had a Roadrunner at one point, and that should have been the one. But he felt he had to sell it when he entered the seminary, and that turned out to be a big mistake. He spent all his years of school searching the classifieds and junkyards, and has actually acquired at least 6 classic cars since giving up the Roadrunner.
Right now we have 2 Plymouth Satellites (both station wagons) and a Duster. They are all in the "ready to restore" or "partially restored" stage. I think he's almost made up his mind to sell the Duster (the one of the group that everyone would think of as a muscle car) and work on the the wagons (got to be different!)

Right now my hubby and I are working on his project of many years a 1969 Chevy Elcamino. He's been stuck on what color to paint it. I think I may have given him a shove in the direction of red. I picked up a cute little 1968 camping trailer that I'm renovating and I'd like to pull it behind the Elcamino.I'm thinking of a red stripe on the outside. I think it will look cute at the car shows with a "Glamper" behind it. What do you all think? I may need some ammunition to convince him that this would be "cute" ......ok manly "cute".

Nice car, Cherry. My first car was a '66 Mustang. I just had to have that car in spite of everyone telling me not to get it. It smoked like a freight train. I never had anyone follow me too close. If they did I didn't know it cuz I couldn't see them! I had to stop and put oil in it every few miles. The motor finally burned up. I sold it for $50. But I still love a Mustang.

Awesome. My father bought my daughter a Mustang before he passed on. 1964. We nurtured it and painted it and fixed it up and by the time she was a senior in High School, she had a classic to be proud of. As she got into college and was driving back and forth, she decided she needed something better on gas, and so the Mustang was sold...sigh. We miss that car. My ideal classic? Pink T-Bird Hard top convertable, with white leather interior. LOL. My husband always said his paint gun won't spray pink paint. But one of these days ;) |

I'd love to meet another farmgirl. Hopefully we'll meet up at a show. I was just reminded that the Mustang is a 1968 not 67. My bad.
We can't take the Mustang to the show next weekend my son also has a soccer tournament and we have to take one of his teammates. Too many bodies to fit in one little Mustang so we'll just be looking and talking. Next year the car goes too. One fun thing that is happening on Friday is their Pony Trail. All the Mustangs (100-200 car) that want are going to travel from Bellevue to Yakima. The local Mustang Club is hosting a BBQ.
We just found an engine in Oregon we are going to look at next week too. Mustangs are as addicting as chocolate. LOL

My DH just trailered our 1968 convertible Camaro to Issaquah, WA for a car show this weekend...I would have loved to have gone with him because there's such a great group of folks over there, but it's my week at the lake and not willing to give that up!
We joke that we had to wait until we were in our 40's to afford the car we wanted in high school!  This car is ALL ours...there will be none of that sharing with the DD's. My DH has spent the last few winters tenderly taking it apart and re-doing lots of stuff on it. It looks pretty sweet this summer. He even painted it himself!
Mary, you're going to LOVE your muscle car and the folks you meet at car shows!!! Who knows, maybe our paths will cross one of these times.

It's Tahoe Turquoise with a black vinyl roof and black interior.

We don't have a muscle car but we do have a 1954 chevy one ton panel. It still has almost everything original and we drive it all the time.
Have fun at the car show. This is a girl question..... what color is your mustang. Our panel is red. |
