Posted - Feb 04 2009 : 4:35:47 PM I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited.....I finally found one.....a litle bigger than i originally wanted....but man, finding a vintage aluminum travel trailer in anywhere near "decent" shape that isn't WAY expensive is REALY hard to do.....But I did it!!! She is soo beautiful!!! And, sad thing is I don't know what year or make she is....The woman I purchased her from has had it for 40 years, and doesn't have a clue, and does not have a title to it.....So the research begins!!!! I can't wait to get pics of her on here!!! My hopes are to have her all "FarnGirled" up by the BBB in JUly!!!! YAY!!!! I'll have to find Alee and get her to give me instructions on how to post pics again!!!! I think she may be a Shasta, but then again she may be a Aljoa...this may take a couple of days to figure out...if anyone has any tips on where to start my online search of identifying her, please let me know, so far, I have had no luck...well, Gotta go.....have lots of research to do....and have to figure out the pic thing so ya'll can all see my new BABY!!!!!! kelley |

Posted - Mar 17 2009 : 11:23:20 AM I will. I just ordered two new propane tanks and am looking for a cover to go on them. Now that the snow is going away, we are going to pull it over to the shop to begin work on the outside. There is quite a bit of trim that needs to be repalced and several smal dents that need to be banged out. DH is going to play a big part oin all that. In the meantime, I am on the look-out for some remmant Pergo flooring and just the right fabrics for the curtains and upholstery.

Posted - Mar 05 2009 : 12:12:13 PM Hey Sherone, Check out some of the Vintage Trailer & Canned Ham forums....they are great about sharing "repair tips". We checked out Home Depot & Lowes & the ones out here do not carry the 1/8" thin sheeting...but we did find a place in Spokane Valley that carries Ash/Oak/Pine/Birch & Mahogany 1/8" wood in 4x8 ft sheets. ranging from $15 to $40 a panal/sheet. Go figure we are replacing the origional Birch with new Birch at $20.99 a sheet/panal...Oaks was much cheaper but my hub's want's to stay with the origional type of wood. Check out you local Yellow Pages/Phone Directory and look up Wood products ot Wood/Lumber...you might just be surprized... We did check the internet & found lots of resources but they are out of the area & it would cost a bloody fortune to ship. Thank goodness we found a supplier less than 20 min away. p.s....sent you an email....

Posted - Mar 05 2009 : 09:24:51 AM Went out to check on my "old" darlin and turns out she has a leak in her roof. I've got DH working on it. We are going to have to pull out a panel of wood and replace it. Anyone know a good source for that thin plywood that you can stain?

Posted - Feb 17 2009 : 07:44:03 AM hey Kelly, check out www.equilter.com they have a huge assortment of fabrics....if nothing else but to give you some ideas. Also checkout www.mariemadelinestudio.com or www.susanbranch.com hopefully one of these 3 will have the perfect fabric. You can print out a sample of the fabric you like & write the designers name(especially if it is a designer name) and maybe with that in hand, when you get to Wally World or an large fabric they might be able to order it for you...'course having a 40-50% off coupon really helps! lol! If you want to save on fabric, rather than gather the fabric, use less and either add Gromets or sew button holes to run your rod through. One of the gal's from my group did minimal sewing & hole punched the top and ran trips of leather shoe laces through the holes, tire the laces together and ran a rod though....it was actually really cute looking. She used a Bandana/cowhide theme fabric for her curtains, pillows etc....Oh & one one of the other ladies, I think it was MaryJane Lee, who had trimmed out her windows w/Birch Branches cut in half lenght wise...So have fun going crazy decorating your trailer. I know I am/will! lol!

Posted - Feb 17 2009 : 04:51:20 AM lol....teresa sue, I just love you!!! so funny!!!! Grace.....urggg!! I can not find any cute cherry material! And, of course, I have to live an hour from the nearest "big town" that has anything other than a wallyworld! I mean, yeah, I could do the ME cherry material that they sell, but I really want something a little brighter and lighter than a black background!!! but, thn again my baby is going to be such a hodge podge on the inside that it really doesn't matter!! I am kicking myself right now for not getting this set of 3 Ball flip top glass canister jars that had strawberries all over them this weekend at a GS, because she only wanted 75 cents apeice for them....they would have been perfect for my coffee, creamer, and sugar in my trailer!! Oh, well.....I'll go check out your curtains right now!!! |

Posted - Feb 16 2009 : 07:59:22 AM hey Kelly, I went & bought my fabric for my curtains as well as whimsical fabric for some toss/decorator pillows. I posted a picture over in the "Sewing" thread... Come on over we'll have a curtain sewing party....lol! I love the idea of the Cherries, lite, bright & fun.... I saw some really cool cherry priny fabric at Joanns and thought of you & your trailer. How's the interior comming along? It's been soooo cold (34degrees) here and it snowed again yesterday. I can hardly wait for MArch to get here when the weather starts to warm up & we can get out to the Man Cave and really start working on "Gracie Girl".... My major colors in her are Claret red, mossy green and muted tannish-yellow.... The stove will be red as will the kitchen light. We are going to paint the hinges&knobs w/a greyish-silver "hammered look" paint. It's cheaper then having to buy knew knobs, handles & hinges... One could spend a fortune re-doing a vintage trailer so half the fun is being creative & dare I say it..frugal! tata-4-now >^..^<

Posted - Feb 11 2009 : 07:51:51 AM How fun! I can't wat to see more progress. My hubby thinks I'm crazy about this camper thing too. I've been asking for one for 2 years now. I wanna do mine in polka dots. lol...like you, I've tried to keep a happy balance in the house, but when I get ahold of that camper watch out sister! I already own a 42' trailer, it sits in West Virginia on a plot of land I own. However, I wanna bring it back to Ohio and fix her up a bit. Keep posting those pics!
