Posted - Oct 17 2008 : 1:41:54 PM The more I read about Mary Jane, the more I'm shocked by how much we have in common! From a desire to have 'lovely' hen houses to our camping, tramping days.
So here is my story:
In 2003 I purchased a motorhome for $5,000 cash. A 1976 sportscoach. I spent 4 of the last 5 years living in it and enjoying the countryside, cats and dogs in tow! She has a solar panel, composting toilet, and roof top water collector.
Prior to that I spent the first 6 months of college living in a hammock in the woods, and in high school I spent every summer in a tent, planted throughout the Cascade Mountains and the islands of Puget Sound. A tent might not be much, but how many high schoolers *really* get to go shopping for their 'house'? I loved every minute of it.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one. :-) |

Posted - Oct 28 2008 : 7:38:15 PM Mary, do you think you would allow your high school daughter to do what you did? When I was 18 in 1960 I drove across the US alone in my 1953 Chevy. I'm sure I gave my mother lots of gray hairs with that one. I made it okay, befriended a lot of truckers along the way. They watched out for me. That certainly wouldn't happen today.
You sound as though you had a wonderful time "shopping" for your home. Please tell us more.
