Hey the signs are right for a fishing trip. So we are going over to our neighbors lake to throw the lines in later today and do some night fishing as well. I saved all the liver from the chickens I butchered last weekend, it will make good channel cat bait. Dig up some warms , but not from my garden. Bluegills like those worms and like to steal your bait to. But oh how sweet and tasty those little bluegill are.

Had to get a new fishing rod and reel yesterday so going to give it a test run and hope I catch some fish. I might try some fly fishing to.

I'll be cooking the fish out at the Outpost ,that is if we catch some. Yummmmm, fried fish, fried taters and onions, corn bread, can of pork and beans, outdoor coffee, oh boy.

Now if the fish don't bite it looks like hot dogs :P

How about you all, you like to go fishing? Whens the last time you got your line wet? How about that tackle box of yours. Is it neat or one big mess of tangled up line, dried worms and torn up rubber worms and some huge lures that you wonder why they are in the box. Maybe something you found on the shore line. And WOW the smell of the tackle box that has that sink bait that you didn't put the lid back on tight enough.

I hope I can share a fish story later with pictures. How about you, got a fish story or maybe the one that got away. Do you do the skin'in, cooking?

Its a beautiful day and just getting outside well be great.

Hope I catch a big one. Now off to clean that tackle box of mine.

Good for Jim getting prepared for the big one. We called our big fish Hardwear cuz he keeps breaking the lines. So went to a heavier line too. Don't want the fish swimming around with lures hangin from their lips : (

Oh girls, sure glad to see some fishin going on.
The fishing was good Sat. not as good on Sunday. I caught a bass , a couple of oz's from being 2 lbs. Wow on the 8lb bass Janneane.

Lots of hand size bluegill, My Mom who is 82, sister and DH and I, we caught over 100 bluegill and bass. Got em in the freezer in water.

I didn't cook any yesterday at the Outpost like planned. To pooped after skinning and fishing, lol. Those lazy fishing days can wear a body out, lol. Plans for the cookout this coming weekend. Buuuuuut, Mom is fry'in up some fish today so din din will be later today for some fresh fish, and fried taters, yumm good.

Connie you live in a different world, lol, all those huge fish to catch. You gatta be laughin a my catch, I am, lol.
Have you did any ice fishing, ya know like in the movie Grumpy ol Men, they sit in their shanty's , drill a hole in the ice and put in their line. Nice catch on the rock, I caught a leaf shaped like a fish yesterday.

City Chick what fun you all have. Our parents took us fishing all summer long to, the lake was close so on the weekends, sometimes during the week they would send the workers home with pay and we all would go fishing. Lots of memories.
Good deal on picking up that line. Some fishers don't know better then to leave their trash on the bank. And some of that line washes in from lost catches and such. Sure can find some interesting things on the fish banks. You give your kids gold when you take em fishin' : )

Dawn/ddmashayekhi find that rod and reel, meet ya down at the river, don't catch em all : ).

Hey Janneane, we'er all comin over for a fish fry, they caught the big ones : )

Happy fishin'

the guys caught an 8 lb bass out of our pond on Friday. They were thrilled as they usually catch a mess of bluegill. He should make a meal or two!!!!

I love to fish, but haven't had a chance to for a long time. You've got me hankering to dig out my old rod & reel and tackle box.

FUN! We fish all summer long. I was wading in a creek last weekend pulling in some nice bluegills. Not big enough to eat though. Hubby did catch a couple of large mouth bass - they went right into the cast iron frying pan.

My girls & I each have our own tackle boxes. Funny at what we each put in ours. Mine is pretty organized. I do keep a nail file & lip balm in the top. My hubby laughs at that. I put rocks in the top part that I collect while fishing. My girls are the lure & bobber collectors. They find them along the banks and happily put them in their boxes.

We also collect old fishing line. I try and remember to bring a bag with, in the event there isn't a trash can near us. We'll cut off the old weights if they're usable. Otherwise, it's just cleaning it up so the birds don't get caught in it or try to use it in their nests.

We're headed out to the Rock River in Oregon, IL next weekend. Hubby & the girls usually wade the river for catfish. It'll be too cold for the girls this time, but hubby will wear his waders.

Good luck on your trip! Post some pictures of your catch!

hi linda, i love to fish we catch mostly artic grayling but occasionally i catch intersting things like rocks! i have actually "landed" a smooth rock the size of your fist! i still cannot figure out how the hook stayed in it long enough and firm enough to land it! we didnt do much fishign this summer becausee it was sos wet and cold here all summer. usually we fish at least once a week! our rivers a crystal clear and very cold. the fish taste absoultely delightful from them! i was never much of a fish eater (maybe once a year) but now eat fish alot! we go to a little place on the copper river called chitina to dipnet red salmon. each family gets 30 per year. its alot faster and simpler than catchign them on a line but i still hoep to get one that way! i can just imagine the eelign of landing a 3 ft salmon! i have had them on my line but never landed one. my tackle box is intersting since we use small lures and flies for rivr fishing and HUGE lures for halibut and other salt water fish. i never have to worry about it getting too full as i lose lures too often! lol. the rivers have very rocky beds and between the rocks and the snags ya end up buying alot of lures! our favorite is mepps #1 gold. i have cought all kinds and sizes of fish on them, including a stingray! i thought i had cought a whale or at least a dolphin! that was many years ago while in florida. i much prefer cold water fishing. peace connie in alaska
