Posted - Sep 14 2008 : 12:17:09 PM This next weekend coming will be our first outing with our rendezvous tent. I am so excited. We are going to a local primitive rendezvous. Period dress, dutch oven cooking, black powder shooting, etc. I think I'm going to try shooting my DH's black powder rifle. Wish me luck. Anyway, thought I'd share my excitement!

Posted - Sep 16 2008 : 10:23:04 AM We will be wearing "primitive" clothing. My husband has a pair of leather "skins" and a homespun shirt he will wear. I have a chemise and long skirts to wear. I need to make an apron to cover my skirt. Oh and we have moccasins that my cousin made us. I made my skirts and chemise myself. No pattern either! We are having biscuits and gravy one morning. These will be made in the dutch oven. I'm gonna try an apple pie too. We have a primitive wall tent with an authentic heat stove. My hubby found a campbox for our dishes and food. In the future I plan on making some period quilts for our beds. It is mostly going to be muzzeleloader shooting and getting to know people. Just writing about it is making me excited. I plan on taking lots of pictures this weekend. I will let you gals know how the weekend went!

Posted - Sep 14 2008 : 3:08:22 PM Erin you got to tell us all about it when you get back, sounds like fun. take pictures too.
What type of clothes will you be wearing? Did you make them yourself? Will you be cooking in the dutch oven? Have you got a recipe picked out? What type of tent will you be using? Did youmake it yourself? What does the weather look like? The black powder rifle should be fun and loud. Well they have any animals on the grounds, horses , work teams, chickens and turkeys running around?
Probably lots of spinners too, oh what fun. People dying homespun yarn hanging on lines.
Oh I'm excited for you, have a great time
