We have had of footprints and evidence that they have visited us, but my husband and son are the only ones to have seen our resident bears until today. I was awestruck! Here comes mama and cubs lumbering along like they are out for an early morning stroll! I was sitting on the step outside putting on my boots and looked up and there they were. Luckily my dog was still inside or we might have had a very different outcome. I stayed very still and watched them strip the berries from blueberry and raspberry bushes we had planted a few years ago but didn't mind the unexpected visitors. The cubs were not taking the whole thing to seriously and mama decided jr needed a good cuff to get him back on track! They briefly glanced in my direction and I thought "oh no..." but it was more like a mama saying "Kids! What are you going to do with them?!!" and off they went down the hill. Mama bear stopped and looked over her shoulder as if to say" Here we go on another day of fun, fun, fun!" I know bears have poor vision and she was probably just checking to see if my scent was coming toward her, but it just was so funny I couldn't stop smiling. I guess we moms have to stick together!

with a happy heart

Bramble! What a miracle in time you witnessed!!! What a wonderful outcome too. Better double check before the dog goes out in the future, too!
