Long skirts made of 100% cotton can be so cool to wear. Having a jean that you know fits you but may be stained, cut up, can easily be the yoke for this skirt. You'll see a lot of ideas on Pinterest. Let's do this!

Posted - Jun 17 2017 : 3:33:09 PM Today I finished my Jubilee Denim Skirt. Better late than never, eh? I made it calf length.
I made it with some "Sale" fabric I've had for a while to see how it would fit. Now will make more with my better fabrics. LOL! I'm just going to add a matching "sash" through the belt loops and maybe a few appliques over the holes in the jeans.

Posted - Jun 07 2017 : 07:48:19 AM Sylvia... I luv broom stick skirts but hate how most of them are some what see thru!... so I wear a slip... but wish I didn't have to... nylon slips are always to hot and clingy... but at least I don't have to wear nylons and a guirdel/guirdle/gurdal... oh duh! Snork giggles!

Posted - May 31 2017 : 12:24:45 PM The skirt I used is a broom stick hippie skirt. Love it! Very thin cotton but dark enough no slip required!

Posted - May 31 2017 : 08:33:29 AM Me, too, Kat. A handle is definitely what I need on my projects. Unfortunately, my projects get interrupted by having to clean the house - it seems housekeeping goes to the back burner when craft projects are involved.
Yes, I have seen broomstick skirts sewn onto the upper part of jeans. Then you have a broomstick skirt with pockets.

Posted - May 31 2017 : 08:29:37 AM Hey Sylvia... I like how your skirt turned out! I have to try this.... after I get a handle on my current and also UFO projects completed...
Hmmm. I have several of those 'broom stick ' skirts... wonder if I could attach one to a jean upper portion? hmmmm.... thinking, thinking....

Posted - May 16 2017 : 10:54:14 AM Ratio: 1.5 bigger than the measurement where it was cut off. So easy to make. Dying to do mine but I have quilting to do on my longarm. I also sewed on top of the gathers, used a decorative stitch to tone down the gathers.

Posted - May 13 2017 : 9:59:30 PM That's great, Sylvia. I have the jeans top (or two) - when I get back from vacation I hope to make one. They do look very comfortable.
What ratio of gathers to jeans did you use? I don't want to make it too gathered but it needs to make it around my hips. LOL!

Posted - Mar 18 2017 : 11:12:27 PM I just found some jean skirts, allows you to make a longer denim yoke, more slimming? I have some batik rayon challis that would drape beautifully. Just need time, ladies. Will post photo when done.

Posted - Mar 17 2017 : 08:41:43 AM I had one like this oooh maybe 30 years ago. I loved it and wore it a lot. It looked nice and trim on my waist (much smaller waist back then) and then had lots of room for movement. That's a great idea to make one.

Posted - Mar 16 2017 : 12:36:33 PM I also saw today a skirt made from a jean skirt because she wanted the top denim part longer. so that is another idea. Some of us don't have the body to wear a denim mini skirt! Was watching a live hatching of a rare chicken from Normandy, France. Two babies. It's like watching paint dry but it was worth it. gorgeous chickens. I own doxies, they don't mix with chickens. They heard the chicks squeaking during and after hatching, all doxie ears were open and alert.
