Posted - Jun 05 2026 : 3:08:06 PM Hey Ladies,, due to, 2, not so successful eye surgeries, I didn't get around to sharing my 'Aunt Grace's" candied walnuts recipe.. So, here goes, for any of you interested.. (I am typing it as she wrote it) BTW: they had a small orchard on the farm, which included walnuts, almonds, figs, olives and pomegranates.. _______________________________________________ 3-4 cups walnuts make in large pan or pot 1 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c Karo. (syrup-she did not mention dark or light) 1/2 c water 1/2 tsp vanilla
242' degrees with candy temp or crackling stage in water
put nuts in oven + heat for 5min. 250-300degrees When syrup is done pour nuts into pot, stir together till nuts are all covered, pour on wax paper + separate, work fast. (fyI: uber hot! I use 2 forks to toss and mix the nuts)
"This is a recipe of love from me to you. Your the sugar and I am nuts" ***************************************** How can you not love a wonderful and silly Aunt like that!

Posted - Mar 05 2026 : 4:16:22 PM April - That's so exciting to hear you're making your own sourdough!! I made some a very long time ago from a starter that a friend gave me, but during one of our moves, the starter got neglected & eventually we went our separate ways. My niece (the patisserie chef) gifted me a starter kit for Christmas & has inspired me to get back into it again. I'm going to be trying a gluten-free version, so we'll see how it goes. Post us a picture of your first loaf of bread!

Posted - Feb 16 2026 : 07:54:27 AM My sister in law has started making sourdough, which is something I always wanted to do, but intimidated to try. She gifted me a sour dough started when she was home a few weeks ago from Alaska and her beloved recipe which took her 3 years to perfect. She nicked name her starter: [bleep]y Betty's Bubbling Baby. LOL!! Betty gave her a run for her money! At any rate, I have waken her up and have fed her twice now, so excited to try. Meanwhile, My Sissy's recipe has been added to my family history cook book. Thought I would share with you all! XO

Posted - Jan 21 2026 : 12:56:46 PM I really like this theme. I have been wanting to get all my recipes put together in one place and make my own recipe book. I received a recipe book kit from a family member a couple years ago and just haven't put it together. This will be the year!

Posted - Jan 08 2026 : 7:38:55 PM Hay ya'll. Ms Mary Jane, this is a great idea for Jubilee and it comes at a great time. I will be creating recipe boxes for all my kids for Christmas this year. I already have all the cards and just need to purchase the boxes and gathering recipes. Whooo hoooo!!! What fun!. Hugs.

Posted - Jan 08 2026 : 3:55:20 PM Connie, what an awesome family recipe cookbook you Aunt Judy put together! MaryJane, I also love the 2026 Jubilee theme as Family Recipes. I have a hunch that we are going to hear about lots of great dishes that have been favorites of families for generations. That is the best part because history is something that lives on past our own lives.

Posted - Jan 06 2026 : 11:10:02 AM Its truly a wonderful theme but brings much sadness to my heart as my mom had many yummy wonderful recipes but with all the pcs'ing we did, back at Ft. Eustis the dam broke and flooded our storage unit. I lost everything from my family's memories including when my children were growing up. Beoke my heart. We were in Germany. I REMEMBER ONE RECIPE, lol, my favorite peanut butter pie! Thank you mom.
