Posted - Mar 11 2025 : 2:14:03 PM OMG! I AM SUCH A BLOND!!! (and tooooo stubborn to read the manual) So, according to the manual,(which I rarely open) it states that the extension is only for the 203 machine model with the removable accessory box... WELL,, guess what.. my accessory box comes off leaving a "free arm" surface to be able to sew cuffs, and leg openings etc... even tho' the manual specifically says only the 203 has that capability.. and since I don't sew cuffs or leg openings.. I never checked to see if my accessory box was removable.. so in then manual it says the feed dog button to drop the feed dog is behind the free arm, covered up by the accessory box.. so I gently forced the whole thing and YaDa it slide off and voila' the extension table slid into place perfectly!..
So much for reading instruction manuals! lol!

Posted - Mar 11 2025 : 1:45:53 PM OK, just figured it out… My Husqvarna – Viking sewing machine is an emerald 183. It’s twin is an emerald 203… One of the differences is on the 203 you can remove the accessory box to access the ‘free arm’ for sewing cuffs. There is an extension table for the 203… But that extension table does not fit the 183 which doesn’t have free arm capability. Mystery solved, there is no extension table for my emerald 183. Which explains the confusion when I bought this extension table from the gal at eBay. Husqvarna has only one sewing manual for the one 83–203, but on certain pages it specifically states yay, or nay, as to whether either machine can do a certain function, or as in this case, it indicates the extension table only works on the 203 How I did not realize that when looking at them manual… Until I reread it again and realized I don’t have free arm capability. It looks like I would, but it doesn’t come off. Oh well. But thank you all for your help on trying to figure this out.

Posted - Mar 11 2025 : 1:12:00 PM Judith, I saw on the Husqvarna site, that there is a company that makes custom table extensions for the sewing machines. I haven’t gone to research it yet, I’m going to go and play with the one. My husband modified to see if it works. If not, I’ll check the website For the extensions, and then probably sell 2 pints of blood to pay for it! Lol.! Thanks for the site..

Posted - Mar 11 2025 : 10:21:52 AM Hi Michele,, oh I am blurry eyed about the table extension.. I even joined 2 Hasq-Viking groups in hope someone will know. I did find one on ebay unfortunately the seller was unaware that it was not the right one for my 183...
but,,, early this morning, my DH said if I was ok with it, he could cut a larger opening to make it fit.. so I gave him the go-ahead.. and it almost, almost fits nearly perfect. Fortunately I only paid $19 for it,, everywhere I check, to find a Hasq-Viking one is upwards of $99 - $119... (H.V. brand) I will use the extension today to see if it does work without hick-ups.. if not, I will continue searching. My 183 has a rather wide and bowed base, which makes me wonder if there was an extension for it... Oh well... Time to go play now!

Posted - Mar 11 2025 : 03:05:43 AM Sorry I don't have one Grace. My mom got extension tables made by someone in Arizona a few years back. Maybe online search would provide one?
