Posted - Apr 22 2007 : 07:41:13 AM I got a treadle as a Christmas gift from my great aunt we brought it back at Easter. Ok if any one has tips I would like them. It looks to be in working order with a nice belt and all. I understand the concept of how it works and my husband used one when he lived in Brazil for 2 years. But my husband and I are just wondering what is the easiest way to put the belt on after bringing the machine to the top of the cabinet and we know how to release the tension to put the machine away but not an easy way to put it back on or is there no easy way to do this.
When my husband used it in Brazil it was set up for use so he didn't have to deal with that part of the whole thing.

Posted - Apr 22 2007 : 7:34:21 PM thanks that does help mine is a singer. My grandmother just told me on the phone she might have another tredle for me that she thinks she can get for 40.00. So I guess I may end up with two treadles. I actually have 4 other bases for treadles but those are just the legs I use those as legs to tables. I kids get a kick out of climbing under the table and playing withthe peddles and watching the fly wheel spin. They are only aloud to play with the ones that do not have a machine on them and never are babies to play with they I don't want their little fingers stuck.

Posted - Apr 22 2007 : 6:54:00 PM Sunshine! Wow a treadle of your own, great! Mine are a Davis Vertical, and a Singer, what's yours? I would make sure the belt is following in place while raising the head. I have found it very hard to get the belt on mine after it is fully raised and in place. I try to keep it in the correct alignment when lowering too. Just my 2 cents KarenP
