Hey all!!
I was in my craft room today working on using up paper scraps from a collection. I was growing very tired of the papers the more I tried to use them up. Lol. I’m sure I’m not the only one that happens too!
I started to think about how I could bless others with these scrap and my Farmgirl sisters came to mind. We have had other posts and threads here about R.A.O.K. and happy mail. So I’m wondering…would any of you be interested in being part of a group like this? I would be happy to maintain the first post/thread with names and what types of things you would be interested in receiving, like paper scraps, fabric scraps, buttons, ephemera, laces, trims, etc?
Many of the scraps I have would fit in either a legal size or a 5x7 envelope that would only require 1 or 2 stamps. I really don’t want to throw useable scraps away but when I am done…I am done! Haha. Hope this makes sense.

Oh I love amigurumi! DMC has some free patterns - fruit, plants, odd things. There is another web site - amigurumi.com. CrocheTree.com is all doll patterns. I bought some doll patterns and sent one to a swap partner.
Has anyone seen the fabric scrap twine on Pinterest? I'm thinking about trying it. You use long strips of fabric 1 1/2" wide.

I'm with you Karen. At my age I really just want to pass on stuff and don't need any more. So if you get a surprise package from me please don't feel you have to send me anything.

It may be a bit before I get to sort through all my craft stuff but surprises when we least expect them are a lot of fun, right?
As you're all going through your stuff I can always use scraps of things like lace, rick rack, ribbons, bias tape, buttons, etc. to use on apron pockets, hot pads, coasters, Christmas stockings, etc. Also fabric scraps, orphan quilt blocks and such that could be used for hot pads, coasters, little bags for gifts.

Marie, I’ve never heard of those dolls before but they sure are adorable!!
I was thinking R.A.O.K.s. Personally I’m ok with people who just want to send to others. The more I use my stash, the more and more freedom I am finding in the stuff I have. Which seems like it would be the opposite though. Lol. I love to bless others with happy mail and sending some things to a new home makes me smile.
So it looks like we have Marie, Denise, Linda, and I for sure. Jean, are you sure there isn’t anything you may like to receive??

Any yarn fiber, color, thickness or style are good choices. Ha! Ha! I'll take it all off your hands. Maybe I'll even make you something from it as a thank you.

Jean I could use anything cotton or cotton blend 2.5 x 2.5 or bigger.

Jean - Yes, the paper scraps are for the tea bag folded stars. I may ask for cardstock later but not now. I have quite enough. I use the smaller pieces of yarn for making amigurumi dolls. A little goes quite a long way for these small projects. Please inquire! Your question gave me a new idea.

I could use some paper scraps, but I could send lots of fabric scraps.

Cool idea, Karen. But I'd be more interested in giving than getting. I did quite a bit of cleaning out for the Dog Days Junk Journal swap. However I still have more that I'd like to "re-home".
Churunga -- watch for an envelope to come your way. I'm assuming the paper pieces are for tea bag folding so you would want paper not cardstock, right? And what do you do with those smaller pieces of yarn? Inquiring minds want to know.
Levisgrammy -- tell us more about the type and size fabric scraps you prefer.
I have specific ideas for most of my projects. And like you Karen, when I'm done - I'm done! And the pieces left sit forever waiting for my new ideas that never seem to include them.

I believe a similar swap happened in the past. Everyone signed up and said what they wanted and anyone else could send their excess of that particular item to them. Courtesy recommended that we communicate with the person first and take things off your list if you've gotten enough. I would always send stamps back to the person who gifted me.

I am in. I am interested in pieces of paper which measure at least 2" per side. I will take larger of course and it has to hold a crease when folded. Shall I send two stamps to you to defray the cost?
EDIT
Here is a list of scraps I will accept:
!) Scrap paper no smaller than 2" X 2".
2) Small balls or pieces of yarn at least 12" long.
