Posted - Apr 06 2007 : 10:16:34 AM The last Apron swap was so much fun I thought it would be nice to do another one. This time since we are mailing to our partners I have to add a new rule Only True Blue Farms Gilrs can sign up. I am not doing this to be mean but in the last few swaps the girls who didn't come through were new ones so I am going to try this way this time. I will take sign ups for 2 weeks then we will mail to our partners May 30 a full size apron and few little tuck ins. Does anyone want to swap? Hugs, Elizabeth

Posted - May 29 2007 : 8:28:07 PM Glad you had the procedure, Kathy, even though it is not fun. Also glad you are all clear! I had not made an apron since 7th grade either until this year (I am 46), but now I have the bug and have been doing that and tea towels more than my beloved quilts!! Still do that too, but not as much as I used to. The quick projects are so nice to do and get done! |

Posted - May 29 2007 : 7:34:02 PM Technology -- gotta love it (not sometimes)!
I had to uninstall and re-install Internet Explorer, so I can't post to my blog until I figure out which one of the gazillion settings is not letting me communicate with blogspot. As soon as that is done, I can post a pic!
On the brighter side of things, I had a colonoscopy today - what fun!! So, yesterday, my day off when I thought I'd finish up Susan's apron, I was, well, indisposed....and when I wasn't having some quality "porcelain time", I didn't really feel like working on the apron. Had the colonoscopy today and the pipes are clean -- Yay!! My younger brother was diagnosed with colon cancer when he was 40 (3 years ago, and he's doing OK now after chemo, radiation & several surgeries), so we siblings are all regular about getting colonoscopys when we're told we should. Then I pretty much slept the rest of the day away today.
Long story as to why Susan's apron isn't in the mail yet, but I should be able to finish it tomorrow night after work and get it in the mail by Thurs. Did I mention this is the first apron I've made since 7th grade (I'm 48), and the first wearable item I've made in over 25 years?! Amazingly enough, it looks like it will turn out cute!! I'm excited to finish!

Posted - May 19 2007 : 2:39:26 PM Oh it is so beautiful on you...good work sewgirlie and what a great partner to have!!! Breaking in a new apron is always hard, what if you get it dirty...and that is what it is meant for...I have a hard time with that, too. Hope you are all really enjoying this day!!! Jess |

Posted - May 19 2007 : 2:29:10 PM My apron from Sheryl-lyn is lovely as well, very well crafted, a beautiful grass green print with yellow binding, and super long ties so I can tie it in the front - like how convenient is that? And it fits me beautifully! My big problem is that I don't want to get it dirty! So I put it on, stand in front of the mirror for a bit, then take it off and hang it where I can look at it! That happens several times a day. AND! it has the most beautiful delicate antique hankies, one in each pocket....its really awesome. Christmas in May doesn't happen often. This swap was a great idea - how very special.
ps: Sheryl also sent me a whole grain blueberry muffin mix, a book on baking soda useful tips and some herbal tea! yummy stuff. Thank you again, Sheryl! |

Posted - May 18 2007 : 7:28:41 PM GIRLS!! You should see the fantastic apron Chris made for me!! It is muslin with a redwork rooster and writing on it. It is so perfect for me and the things that I love. I will see if my son can help me post a picture here for you so see. It is so vintage looking. She actually made the pattern based on a vintage apron a friend told her about. How cool is that? I also got a fabric apple (for me as a teacher!), handmade soap and handmade note cards. It was the best day for me!! Like Christmas!
Have a great weekend. I will be cooking up a storm for my daughter's college graduation, so I will be using my apron right away!
