Posted - Mar 25 2007 : 2:49:08 PM I posted a photo of a pair of socks I made with the beautiful Opal yarn, I think the yarn I used to make these socks is "Petticoat". I have another opal yarn I'm using but haven't finished those socks yet. I made this pair on circular needles but the ones in the photo on my blog I made with dpn's, which is my favorite way. I love making socks and I love these so much it's the only pattern I use, which is a very basic sock pattern. Does anyone else make socks??? I'd love to see them. ~~Blessings, Mikki

Posted - Mar 28 2007 : 08:55:26 AM Beautiful socks Mikki!! I love knitting socks too..I have some beautiful alpaca that I got from Grace Gerber on her etsy site up next for socks. I will knit on those as my vacation take along project...I am excited to get them started. The pattern is alot like the ones you made in the picture. I usually don't carry the rib down the front of the socks but I think I will with this pair. The yarn you used is so pretty!!!

Posted - Mar 28 2007 : 04:58:13 AM I just got some "socks that rock" yarn, and I'm going to do a k3, p1 seed stitch pattern-it's one round knit, one round k3, p1, one round knit, etc. I'm anxious to get started because I've heard so much about this sock yarn. Why do I have to go to work, why, why, why???

Posted - Mar 25 2007 : 6:17:56 PM Mikki Jo, they're fantastic! That's a knit 3, purl 1 rib, yes? My favorite basic pattern too, though I love the toe-up and short-row heel quite a bit. I just learned you can do a flap/gusset heel "backwards" by starting toe-up, but haven't tried that yet.
I'm working on a pair in Koigu now (photo on my blog) that will have variegated toes/heels, a solid color foot and a stripey, garter-rib cuff. Loving the Koigu so far! I haven't tried Opal yet, but have heard it's great. Have you tried Claudia's handpainted merino for socks? Spendy, but OH.SO.SOFT.
Keep on sock knittin'!
Catherine :)
p.s. If you go back a few posts on the main page of my blog, you'll see the most recent completed pair of socks that went to my husband. Always have to be knitting on some socks!

Posted - Mar 25 2007 : 5:40:25 PM I bought the yarn @ Two Be Weavers, not far from where I live. But I know you can order it on line. Two Be Weavers also has a website. www.twobeweavers.com. I'm sure a lot of people carry it online as well. I love making socks Margie. I've not tried the micro-fiber but I was wanting to, I may check some of that out Sheila, thanks for the info. ~~Blessings, Mikki Jo

Posted - Mar 25 2007 : 2:55:05 PM Those are beautiful socks. I love the colors. Where do you buy the yarn? I am knitting some out of Lion brand's micro-fiber. It is so soft. I am Diabetic and I have to wear socks every time I go out ; even in the hot of summer. I have seen picutures of socks make from that yarn. Do you buy it from on line? Pinkroses |
