Posted - Feb 26 2021 : 12:33:53 PM Does anyone know what I do with this? I bought it years ago and finally pulled it out to make it and it doesn’t have any instructions! Just a pattern paper. What do I need to make it and what do I need to do?

Posted - Mar 22 2021 : 1:26:23 PM Oh Heather! That is such a bummer and would totally be something I would do! I’m so sorry that happened. Luckily you can laugh about it now.

Posted - Mar 22 2021 : 1:13:22 PM I'll have to try that Diana - thanks for sharing!!
Krista - here's an ironing mess I did last summer:
I was in a hurry and rather than getting out my ironing board I used my footstool. Instead of saving time I ruined my footstool, iron, and shirt!! I didn't know the footstool would melt onto the iron and then smear all over my shirt. And that it would be impossible to get off the iron and my shirt LOL!!!! (I can laugh now but it sure wasn't funny at the time!)

Posted - Mar 19 2021 : 9:20:45 PM Elmer's glue stick to set your pieces. You can sew thru them with no residue getting on the needle and it washes out when your done.
I put my quilt bindings on with that and the plastic clips.

Posted - Mar 17 2021 : 1:46:19 PM Dawn, the only mess I ended up with was some of the iron on getting on the ironing board cover. It ruined the cover and we had to get a new one. So my suggestion is to cut it almost to the size you need so it won’t hang over and get on the cover.

Posted - Mar 16 2021 : 05:20:10 AM Love the owls! Great job on figuring it out Krista. Did the iron-on leave residue? I am doing a project that will require ironing a bunny patch onto a placemat. I'd like to be forewarned if there is going to be a mess!
Thanks, Dawn in IL

Posted - Mar 12 2021 : 2:30:40 PM Thank you ladies for your help! I got this project finished yesterday and it was actually pretty easy! Other than a little messy on my moms ironing board. My mom did one with me. We are trying to get the left over mess off of it lol!

Posted - Mar 03 2021 : 1:15:07 PM Yes that’s the towel. I had to smack my own hands and tell myself to stop getting new things until all the old UFOs are done. This is why I’m trying to get so many things done lately lol. The sooner I’m done the more new stuff I can get!

Posted - Mar 03 2021 : 09:55:09 AM Krista,, that was my 1st guess, a deco towel, at looking at the green checkered fabric.. I actually have a few "applique towel" kits I have bought on several trips to Palm Springs at "Monica's Quilt Store" just down the road,, but like 'sew' many of my other kits, with my best of intensions,, got put in the UFO box to someday do... lol!
Sew many kits,,, Sew much fun...

Posted - Mar 01 2021 : 1:32:07 PM Grace, it’s actually a towel. So I won’t be framing it.
Thank you all for the help! I got some Iron on adhesive this last weekend. I’ll attempt it this week and see how it goes lol. Wish me luck.

Posted - Feb 26 2021 : 6:15:44 PM I just did a quick you tube search. If you look up "iron on applique" or "hand applique blanket stitch" it looks like you'll be able to find out what you need to do to make your owl. If I lived closer I'd show you how to do it on my sewing machine. Not sure why but I very strongly dislike hand sewing! It sure looks like a cute project. There are plain pillow covers that you could buy and attach your owl to when it's done if you like the pillows as much as I do :)

Posted - Feb 26 2021 : 1:11:37 PM ok,, I just re-looked at the photo,, maybe the finished project is suppose to be framed in a frame or hoop... but again you need to stitch the pieces to the green plaid.

Posted - Feb 26 2021 : 1:09:55 PM It looks like a decorator dish towel... In which case, you will need some ironable wonder-under, to which you can iron the W.O. onto the back side of the fabric bits, then iron on or trace the pattern to the back side,, cut out , peel off the paper backing and then iron the pattern pieces to the towel and then hand stitch around,, using a blanket stitch or other decorative stitch. Not sure if that makes scense.. or,, you could trace and then cut out the pattern pieces and , using a glue stick, glue on the pieces to the towel,, and then do your stitching.,, but I recommend using the iron on Stitch witchery/wonder under .. there are several different names for the iron on adhesive.. I'll be back home late March,, if you havent attempted the pattern,, maybe I can pm you and walk you thru it. Have fun.
