Many people are sick!
A mask might help you stay well.
The Fabric Patch, which is located in Washington State has several videos up now. Go to Fabric Patch.net
You should find the videos, the template, etc.

My son sent me a special request. He wants a mask embroidered with "2020 Sucks" . . .
What kinds of Christmas items are you making ???
katmom Posted - Sep 19 2020 : 3:14:08 PM
Yep,, still making masks..
I mad one with that cute little "No Drama Llama" design fabric, for my granddaughter who is having a birthday.. and go figure,, I forgot to take a photo of it before I gift wrapped it.. maybe I can get her to model it for me next week at the party.

Currently I am up to my eyeballs in machine embroidery.. working on some Christmas items..

Clearly, this awful crapola is not going away anytime soon. No posting here for a while I see. Are y'all still in the mask making mode? I'm still cranking them out between swap projects that is. Send them to everyone I know and my son passes them out all over the place where he lives in Reno, NV. I've been including one in every swap package I send out even though I know y'all are making them too. Figure you can't have too many on hand. And, I don't consider them to be "tucks". To me they are my "community service project". BTW my son found some great elastic at Windy Moon Quilts in Reno. Check out the colored elastic there at https://www.windymoonquilts.com/search?q=elastic

LOL!!! I've made a few for family. I used different colored thread and bobbin thread to mark front and back on the ones that were the same fabric inside and out. I'm using up scraps and some were big enough for both pieces.

Bonie Hunter had this on her quilting blog and it seems appropriate to share it here with all of our mask makers:

I washed them and recounted them. I have 53 bandanas. I am set for two years! I only go out every other week for groceries.

My niece who lives outside of Dallas made masks using new vacuum cleaner bags for outer layer and fabric for the inside. Don't know where she got the idea. I have a couple of masks just in case I have to go out.

I saw a video on FB about face masks and protecting yourself. It was a humorous one and the girl was hilarious. She used a bandana to cover her mouth and nose..etc, etc.

I have about 40 bandanas in all colors. I just love em'

Point is I should be set for a few weeks. Myself and Miss Barbara.

Dianna,, good tip, make the outside a print and the inside a solid... so you will know each time you put it on which is which.
I washed and soaked mine tonight for 15min., in a 1/2gal bowl of boiling water and a tblsp of bleach. to disinfect my mask. It is air drying now.
So far, so good.

Thank you Marilyn!! I started looking at different kinds of patterns plus reading what some of the nurses are requiring of those people who are making them for everyone! We are out of elastic here but there is a pattern using hair rubberband. Sew, that's what I've been buying. Plenty of fabric. Remember to make 2 different front/back so they will know which way to put them back on!! ;) thanks so much Marilyn AND APRIL! All you ladies just ROCK!!

April, yes, the Joanns Fabric store in Spokane is also handing out the 'mask baggies'.. I think that is 'sew' awesome.

I just got a couple off in the mail for a friend in Calif.. and the quilting groups up here are making masks for the medical field.
I heard you can put a layer of 'Pelon' interfacing in between the fabric to help shield the bacteria from working it's way through the masks.

Hi Marilyn!! I'm so happy to see you posted something on line about making face masks!! I just finished making my first 5 yesterday afternoon for my family - now I will make additionals for extended family and a few elderly neighbors we have, then possibly extras for local medical staff... I found a super easy pattern on line at the following link:

https://freesewing.org/blog/facemask-frenzy/

I used two layers of 100& cotton tshirt (this fabric is suppose to keep out 90% plus virus/bacteria ) then I lined it with some fun material on the outside, I had to make 4 ties for each mask as I didn't have the proper size elastic and conveniently all the local stores and on line stores are out of stock!

Joanns Fabric is also giving away mask kits for you to make (baggie includes all the trimmings needed) while supplies last for those ladies who may have a Joanns in your neck of the woods. I haven't yet been able to get up to my local store, been calling each day, but they have been out of supplies until possibly this Friday, so I will try again! Our local area has also created a private face book page and many ladies are making masks by the dozens to donate to local medical staff... our Bend hospital has already been sporting their new masks made by one of my precious neighbors! It's nice to see folks working together! Stay safe and well! XO
