Hi girls!

I know this is going to be a tough one for ALL of us... But I am wondering... What is the #1 craft tool you just can't do without?

Last year, I discovered the Totally Tiffany Hot Glue Gun Holder:

https://www.totally-tiffany.com/product/hot-glue-gun-stand/

You can find it and similar ones at Amazon and craft stores online.

I know it may sound crazy, but it has completely changed my life! LOL! Not only does it keep the glue gun in an upright position, easy for grabbing, it has a glass plate placed strategically underneath where the glue gun's hot tip will rest, so any drips go right onto the glass and are easily picked off when cool. No more mess. I just love it. I also love the little cup area - I love having my glue sticks right there, ready for the picking. There's nothing worse than stumbling around to grab a glue stick when you're mid-way through shooting a line of glue and the barrel is empty!

I also have a great silicone mat that came with a couple of silicone finger protectors... No more burns!

What's your favorite go-to tool?

Hugs -

Thank you, Sara! That's very good to know!

I need to have my scissors professionally cleaned and sharpened so badly. We used to have it done once every couple of years, but the gentleman who did it, did it from his garage, and has long passed. Since then I have no idea where to take them. Does anyone know what type of business does this or where I can take them?

Nina, I use aluminum foil on my embroidery and dollar store scissors but I don't let it near the very good pair I use for cutting wool and fabric. It does a good job for what I use the scissors for but I find they do need to be "sharpened" often.

Marilyn! So true about the scissors! I have all different kinds, brands and sizes throughout my house for all sorts of uses. My go-to pair is handmade of heavy surgical steel from Germany, which my husband bought forevermore we were married. I just love them. But you really do need different types to get different jobs done properly! Oh! And I had heard that slicing the blades through aluminum foil would help sharpen the blades... have you ever tried that? If so, did it work?

And tweezers are a real life saver when papercrafting, too! It is so much easier to use them for precision placement of stickers and other embellishments rather than trying to use your big clumsy fingertips!

Two must-have tools for sure, sister! :)

Because I sew at the kitchen table, even though I have a sewing house, outback, my scissors often cut paper, plastic. Packages to open them etc. So after two pair of Ginghers, I just buy Fiskars, I have four pair right now, although one pair has become kitchen sheers. Still they become dull...So several years ago I bought the handy dandy Fiskars sharpner. It has saved many a day and projects too.
My second set of tools are some long tweezers. I learned of the value of long tweezers when I bought my serger about 30 years ago. Now I have several pair. They are so great. And on a he subject of needles, I ask for help. Since i'm usually sewing by myself, I ask God to help me get the thread through the hole in he machine needle. He is amazingly good!

Maybe this isn't a tool or is it? I bought a nice old wooden baby changing table at a thrift store and it changed my life! It has 3 shelves and I use it to
store my material. I can see what I have and it stays organized! Now I want to get more. One for books, plants and to show off some beautiful baby
quilts and other quilts that I have. LoL! That is if I can sneak them in the house!

I love this question and answers above! I am having trouble narrowing down my must have to one that stands out. Ginger Scissors (a few years ago I finally broke down and purchased 8" and 5" pair), bright desk lamp and curved corner template.

Vanessa, your story of your cat spilling the pins reminded me of a useful tool to have around needles & pins - a magnet. Makes finding and picking them up off the floor a lot easier whether it's just one or an hundred.

You girls are funny and clever. My can't visit in-laws without is my crochet hooks and a new skein or ball of yarn. They get into some heated discussions. Hubby and I are usually two on one side against the clan. I need to escape now and then.

This is a useful crafting tool for me and it came from an auto parts store. However it is not cat proof. Our cat pushed it off the table and the pins scattered.

I can't live without my crochet hooks! And of course scissors! But then again I couldn't do have my projects without my paint brush so that's important too! Let's just say my list is long! Lol

My rotary cutter and my needle threaded would have to too that list. I really like my rolling carts too. They keep my projects organized until I get back to them.

Sharp scissors and lots of pins! Love these new glue gun set-ups shown here. My gun is so old and it lives in an equally old aluminum pie pan!! LOL!!

Heather...YES!!! I used to have a similar set up! I couldnt STAND it (no pun intended!). But this thing makes everything so handy and at the ready. I can hold my project in one hand, lay the gun in the holder, pop in a new stick and just keep on keepin' on. No more glue gun leaking everywhere, no more work area mess, no more do-dads sticking to the tip when i put it down, no more stopping everything to inserta new stick. Very streamlined! And no more paper plate sticking to the tip, knocking things over, and no more not-so-silent cursing as i burn my fingers while picking everything up and picking the glue off everything. I just love it! ;) Hugs - Nini

Nini - that sure looks better than my paper plate glue gun holder LOL!!!

This is a hard question for me but I'm going to have to say my sewing machine. I don't know way but I don't like sewing by hand. If I didn't have my machine I don't think I would sew.
