Yep, I'm at soggy (well, at the moment!) Fort Langley. I'm in my third season there as a heritage interpreter. It can be great fun, but lately it's been mud and giant puddles everywhere. I've not been down to Ft. Nisqually yet, but I have been out to Ft. Vancouver.

Meggie, is the Fort you mention Fort Langley? My sister and I used to volunteer at Ft Nisqually here in WA and visited Ft Langley once a couple years ago.

I am so happy you like it. I would love to see what you have done after you feel you have done enough to show.

Thank you so much sunshine for introducing this to me. I've just today started my paper piecing project (as it's a sloow day at the Fort, thanks to the horrible weather). I've done patchwork quilting before but never again, I love this method. It works up quickly, completely portable- no need to lug out the sewing machine, and noooo measuring once the intial pieces are cut out (For a metric girl like me, most of the inches and fractions of inches in patchwork drove me crazy!)

I sense a summer project developing...

I would just find other fabric I like for the flowers centers and scatter the bees about randomly not every flower has a bee at the same time in real life. So I think that would "bee" just fine. Find a fabric that has a similar color the the background of the bee or find 5 or 6 that are similar so the randomness seams more planned.

Sunshine, yes, for some reason I signed onto it with flohes4 which is the user name I use for the Yahoo groups I'm on. Thank you for answering my question on there. I was able to sign out of my son's school at lunch and got something to eat and went and bought needles. I've got 2 more hours here so I'm going to go ahead and try this. When I started these long ago I had bought this material that has bees on it so in the center of each flower the piece I used has a bee. I'll post a picture of it after I get home. The bad thing is when I bought this material long ago I really didn't think about how much I needed and not sure I bought enough of the bee material to do a quilt with. It's Debbie Mumm for SSI material and it says "Mumm's the Word" along the edge but maybe alot of her material says that.

Sunshine, your tutorial was so good, I was wondering if you have one that shows basic crocheting. All of the videos and instructions I've ever seen haven't been clear enough for me to be able to understand it. I can do the starting chain except it's not real even but then when I go to turn the corner to start the next row I have some kind of mental block and can't figure out how to do that.

Sunshine, I just went to my groups on Yahoo and it wasn't there. It seems like it wasn't exactly a Yahoo group, not sure what it was or how I got to it. Oh well, your tutorial was really clear and I think I figured out what the answer to my question was just by looking at your tutorial. It seemed like the teacher in the class I took had shown us the way to sew the pieces together without having to keep restarting but you showed how to get from one corner over to a different corner without restarting. Does that make any sense? I'm very sleep deprived today. Anyway, if I just had a needle with me I think I could make some headway on this. Maybe I can sneak out of here and run to JoAnne's and buy some needles. (While the kids are in their classes the Mom's stay in this big room called the Zoo room because it's such a zoo in here sometimes)

I'm so mad! I saw your tutorial on here this morning so gathered up all my stuff to start working on the grandmothers flower garden that I started so many years ago and I brought my bag of stuff to my son's Tuesday school where the moms all have to stay all day and I forgot to bring a needle!!

Thank you so much Sunshine for posting that. I had joined some kind of group a week or so ago and you were on it but now I can't even figure out how to get back to it to see if anybody answered my question about the English Paper Piecing. I dug out my pieces that I had worked on years ago and was hoping to be able to figure out how to get it going again.
