I have a question. I have a fine gauge cotton knit sweater that is too short. I was wondering how easy it would be to add a wide border of trim to the bottom? Has any one ever done this with success?

Hey, Kim....why not just go ahead and add a skirt? Then you can cover it with a scarf belt out of the same fabric!! Just an idea...

Or you could take it shorter and add a swingy hippy look extension kind of like the apron tops, then add a tie belt in the mix to help shape it. You could add the tie belt to just the backside. Make your ties out of ribbon or the same fabric as the extension and just add them into the side seams!!

Sorry didn't answer sooner...had to think on this one a bit.

Thanks for checking out my apron and sewing musings!

Kim,
I know that you could do this. I think the easiest way would be if you have a stitch on your sewing machine that does either knits or elastic. Are you attaching a knit or stretchy trim? I think something like that would be best as it would have less tendency to pucker at the seam.
