Posted - Aug 12 2018 : 10:07:52 PM when I was younger,,, my quiet time hobby was Cross Stitch.. I would do anything from small 1-evening projects to large projects that took many, many evenings... I would cross stitch for myself and as gifts..
I was working on one project, a sweet 5x7 of a Brittney Spaniel, as w had had 2 of them, my hubby's favorite breed of dog... This project took me roughly 20 hours of stitching time...
... I also loved to do beaded cross stitch...
using tiny seed beads
I did a lot of these as gifts...
Now I rarely do any cross stitch, mostly because of my vision... I have to use my 'OTT lamp and a magnifier so when I d stitch,,, I don't stitch for more than a half hour.. but,, though I don't stitch much,,, I still love it.

Posted - Aug 15 2018 : 12:22:04 PM Grace and Audra Rose, beautiful work! I've done a couple of projects on linen and I remember the day when I didn't even need glasses.... I just finished the last one and ended up needing to get a high powered pair of readers from BiMart to finish it...my Rx glasses weren't enough. Isn't aging wonderful??? haha

Posted - Aug 15 2018 : 07:38:56 AM For many years, my eyesight was so bad that I couldn't do cross stitch and started giving everything away. When the cataract surgery corrected my vision, I was glad I hadn't given everything away. Problem is, I don't have the time. I treat it similar to a puzzle. I love counted cross stitch especially. I just love to start from the middle and slowly work the pattern out from that until it is totally finished.

Posted - Aug 15 2018 : 04:45:39 AM Years ago I thought counted cross stitch was too restrictive. Then the kids broke my sewing machine so I bought a half finished cross stitch project at a yard sale. I found I enjoyed it. The projects I liked the best were Mary Engelbreit patterns.

Posted - Aug 14 2018 : 6:54:20 PM These are all so beautiful and great work. I did one small cross stitch once and it was not a pretty sight. All lumpy and weird looking.

Posted - Aug 14 2018 : 04:29:38 AM I love to cross stitch too. I am working on a country sampler right now. I'll post a pic when it's done although that probably won't be for another three or four months. I heard someone call cross stitching painting with thread, I love that.
