I've got it on my blog. If you would like to see it, just click the link below. It is a large with a Ralph Lauren thrifted top! Rusty red and cream homespun and vintage gauze cotton.

I stumbled upon a stash of Ralph Lauren's at The Thrifty Quaker that were in perfect condition. They look great as tops to dresses. The colors are rich and the feel is super soft!!

Let me know what you think of this one...no pattern. It has flat fell seaming with hand pulled thread edges and slit up the sides. It spins wonderfully and is lightweight too!
Tasha, I loved your dress so much, I had to try one too. Especially since McCalls just came out with a booklet with this idea for little girls too. It shows you how to take a T-shirt, and a triple tiered skirt and attach it to the t-shirt, so this is becoming a popular style of reusing old t-shirts.

I think you are right. I might do a double layer ruffle on the petticote too, to really give it some snazz!! Lots of scrumtious antique lace on it too!! I can hardle wait to start on the petti now. I LOVE petticotes. The petticote could also be worn under other dresses and skirts....you are so right...lots of different looks. Petticotes are really difficult to find too!

I have an idea in mind for a blessed harvest skirt.....one that could be used in the woods to harvest with a special apron....I can see it so clearly in my mind right now. Never seen anything like it before...I'm going to sketch it before I lose it!

OOoh, I think you should do the ruching on the petticote too. It would really give a variety of looks.

I have decided to do a muslin petticote to go with the Horse skirt. I am going to finish it off as a skirt too, rather than attach it to anything else. But the little top may just have to go with the skirt, it was the inspiration for the skirt, but my daughter LOVES the little t-shirt...LOL

the petticote will be a natural muslin with vintage cotton lace, so when the ruching is drawn up, the antique lace petticote will show. I think it will be beautiful. I might just have to do a coordinating tie on apron to go with this set too. LOL....I do get carried away. This one is so, so soft and swirly!! I am falling in love with homespun plaid skirts!! And I do love the ruching. I've always wanted to try ruching, now should I also ruche the petticote so they can be lined up and ruched together? Hmmm.....I bet I'm not spelling ruche/ruching correctly! LOL...thanks for liking my work, oh, I work tonight and Saturday, so I might be a little behind this weekend.

Georgann,
Beautiful! I use to make dresses like that for myself in highschool, now I just make them for the girls. Maybe I need to take an hour or so and remedy that. I am very impressed with the creativity of all you girls and the time you put into making items for sale. I take in custom sewing once-in-a-while, but I could never run a store like several of you do.

Enjoy your skirt, Tasha!

Georgian,
You are stirring up my sewing desires & turning me toward my machine!!!
I made a full slip for my 14 yr. the other day that turned out so cute. I need to sew more.

What's that saying, "When your day is hemmed with prayer, it's less likely to unravel".
So true, but sewing doesn't have to be cleaned, until it's laundry day & it doesn't get eaten. You get to look at what you made & be happy that God gave you ideas, eyes & hands and a sewing machine.

Blessings,

oh and....it IS fun to make a dress with a shirt isn't it!! I loved making that because I thought the shirt by itself was terrible. I hated it, but I grabbed it anyhow knowing I would find something for it, even if I had just cut it up and saved the beading for trim. If it doesnt sell I am going to enter it in the fair this Summer.
