Posted - Feb 04 2018 : 4:50:19 PM I want to get back to my crocheting in 2018. I also want to use up my stash!! So I thought maybe some of you would want to do the same. Or maybe you want to learn to crochet or learn new techniques. Please join us!!
Join in anytime. The "rules" of the challenge are very loose. I will put some links to the projects I'm working on; if you need some ideas and inspiration feel free to join me in one or more of these (I will post free patterns) or choose your own.
I am purposely choosing simple patterns that use one skein or less of yarn. This is so that I can finish them up in the month and use up much of my yarn stash where I only have one or part of a skein. I encourage you to choose a one skein project to do during the month if not one of mine but feel free to show us bigger projects you are working on as well.
Each month I will post a new thread with a new set of inspiration projects. Like I said feel free to choose one or more of those or choose something else you would like to work on. Post what you will be working on at the beginning of the month, perhaps someone else would like to join you! Then post pictures along the way and of the finished project.
Feel free to follow me on Ravelry here: https://www.ravelry.com/people/sobyn And I created a folder to store all of my MJF challenge projects here: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/sobyn?set=mjf-2018-crochet-challenge&view=thumbnail
January Inspiration and Ideas:
1 Skein: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fiona-button-scarf (this is 1 skein for the shorter size so that's what I plan to make but feel free to make the longer version) Granny Square: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cosmopolitan-6-inch-granny-square Thread Crochet: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/grannyflake Fun challenge: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/seamus-shamrock-amigurumi Temperature Scarf My daughter is going to make a temperature scarf throughout the year. She will be using an H hook and single crochets but no pattern.
If you have ideas you would like to share for inspiration projects one month (one or multiple projects) send me a message and let me know.

Posted - Apr 18 2018 : 6:47:39 PM Sorry ladies I completely disappeared, life has been insane and I have not had time to keep up with the forums! I'm going to post a general "what are you working on in April" for crochet. Hopefully, in may I can get back to a planned post, I have not had time to crochet either, unfortunately.

Posted - Mar 02 2018 : 6:11:56 PM Oh, Debbie, those are amazing!! I can't wait to start on more for my kids!!! I'm also bound and determined to find a pattern for a Porg! Ok I will post a thread later for our catch up month. Or it can be a "whatever you want to crochet" month! I am like Krista waiting for a swap partner to get her stuff to post a picture of one thing I DID make this month. I also made a snowflake but forgot to take a picture before sending it :(. Bummer. I really just want to sit down and make snowflakes and granny squares for a while. And Star Wars people! We will see what happens in March!

Posted - Mar 02 2018 : 4:00:54 PM Thank you, Krista...and I hear you! When my kids were little I would always work on some sewing project while they were napping. The neighbor lady used to always tell me that I should be napping also! But that was always my "me" time and I loved it. I still have a hard time just sitting and doing nothing, like in the evening if my husband is watching tv....that time is too good to waste just watching tv!

Posted - Mar 02 2018 : 12:38:16 PM Deb, I sympathize with you. That hurts a lot. I have had 5 rotator cuff surgeries. I discovered I could hand stitch holding my elbows next to my body, it was slow, but at least I could do something. God bless you.

Posted - Mar 01 2018 : 1:18:10 PM Sabrina, that is a great idea. I finished the "Star Wars" project finally...so my other crochet projects have been put on the back burner. A catch up month would be good! Krista, I have no idea how you get so much done with little ones and another one almost here! Here is the picture of the little SW people....minus one Boba Fett...he's probably under a bed somewhere! haha

Posted - Feb 28 2018 : 11:19:25 AM Sabrina, that sounds just fine with me. I bet a catch up month will be helpful for many.
Linda, I can't wait to see a picture.
I was able to get my crochet project done but I'm still waiting to share about it until after my swap partner gets her box. I send it out next week and I really hope she likes what I made.

Posted - Feb 27 2018 : 07:19:00 AM I have finished one Granny Square block - No. 1 in the book I got. It turned out 8"+. I am going to make blocks with the same hook and level of yarn and hope they all turn out the same size. I a using a variegated group of yarns, different for grannies, so it will be interesting to see how they turn out. I will post a picture here later today.

Posted - Feb 27 2018 : 05:53:12 AM Man I am just not getting time to do this as much as I would like.
I have an idea, how would y'all feel about march being a "catch up month?" Of course, as usual, you can work on anything you want and share what you are working on but instead of new project ideas I will just repost the ideas from the last couple months for anyone who would like to "catch up" on those. I have not made either of the one skein projects.....of course now they aren't really going to be used until next fall/winter....I have only made one granny square and no snowflakes (although I plan to make one of those today). Thoughts? I will go find some new projects if y'all want me too but I know I could just try to catch up on those from before!

Posted - Feb 19 2018 : 11:14:23 AM So for this month I decided to make some crochet items to send to one of my swap partners. I am about half way down with them now. I'll have to share a picture of them after she has received her box. I love crocheting things for others!

No worries Linda, I didn't get nearly as much as I'd hoped done last month, the month was crazy busy and just slipped right away!

Posted - Feb 05 2018 : 5:09:14 PM Unfortunely I will not be able to join this month as I thought. I took a fall and really hurt my right should down to my hand. Saw my family doctor today after a trip to the ER Thursday. He thinks I have a torn rotator cuff and a small fatcture in my elbow. More X-rays today, I’m sling another week. Of course I am right handed. I am bored, miss crocheting and knitting.

Posted - Feb 05 2018 : 09:36:17 AM My focus this month has been on fabric items so far, not on yarn. If I have time, I will try to finish a granny square.
