Hi Girls,
I wondered if you would be able to help me with something.
I purchased a pattern from e-bay. It is a full circle skirt from the late 50's. It says that it is Misses size 14 with a bust of 34 (it also has a pattern for a top). Anyway, I am looking for the modern day size.
Do any of you know how to go about finding it?

Brenda, this is so true! I learned that the hard way. You must lengthen it by the length that you cut off of the top at the waist. (at least) I tend to like longer skirts.
Be sure to check out that Simplicity link. It gives their sizings for patterns. Go by measurements rather than sizes!

I just had a good book from the library on Plus size sewing and it talked about altering patterns, it had a good example of how to make a circle skirt larger - move the waistline down and make the hemline longer if necessary... I would not have done it that way, but it makes sense. Sorry I can't remember the author's name...

It looks like it would be a modern day 12. Alot depends on the waist measurement with this skirt pattern. It would not be difficult to alter to your measurements though.
