Does anyone here do bobbin lace?
I am interesed in trying my hand at it I think.
I need to find a beginner's kit.
I can tat, and cro-tat, I can crochet lace and knit a little lace.
I make a lot of lace (crochet) to go onto the bib aprons I make.
If any of you do do Bobbin lace is it Hard to learn?

I have been doing some re-search tonight.
I saw a kit I think I might order.
I am getting rather excited about it.
I hope it is easy. This kit is around $30.00 or so.

SN12 - THE TORCHON LACE WORKBOOK, Bridget M. Cook. $19.00
they have a video but I have never seen it so I can't really recommend it. Bobbn lace is expensive to get into if you want real nice tools.

30 dollars is a beginner set of bobbins. A advanced set is in the thousands of dollars as one bobbin can cost as much 100. If you start out with torchon lace or book marks that is a good starting place. It is good to have a video if you have no one around to show you how to do it. There is real hard bobbin lace but torchon is beginner stay away from bucks point and honiton and other bobbin laces till torchon is figured out. I would stay with the begginer kit at first because if you decide you don't like it not to much money invested.

Sunshine another question to ask you.
Should I invest in a good set of bobbins?
There is a set for $30.00 over on this site
Are you sure it is easy.?
Do you think I will like it as much as tatting and crocheting lace?

Hey Sunshine. I looked at the lace you made. Beatiful.
I have tatted a lot of lace and crochet quite a bit of lace.
One of the first things my deceeased grandmother taught me to do when she taught me to crochet about 7 or 8 was to do the Shell crochet lace. I learned later to add the pictos.
My grandmother couldn't read crochet, she learned by someone teaching her and looking at a pattern.
I thought I would never learn to read crochet. Ha

I do bobbin lace it is not hard to learn you can get some good book and kits at LACIS on the internet they are in Berkly California
