Welcome to the MJF Spring Dishcloth Swap!

By popular demand, this swap is open to knitters AND crocheters. Dishcloths are where we meet on common ground!

Here's the deal: Send two hand-knit or hand-crocheted dishcloths in springy colors to your pal plus some springy fun items (think garden seeds, Easter chocolates, stitch markers, tea/coffee and the like).

HOW TO SIGN UP:

Send an email to me (dishclothswap AT yahoo DOT com) with the following information:
* Your full name and MJF screen name
* email address
* mailing address
* answers to the following questions:
1. Favorite colors? What color is your kitchen?
2. Do you knit or crochet?
3. Do you have a blog or web site?
4. Anything special that your partner should know about you to help her find just the right things?

IMPORTANT: YOU MUST SIGN-UP BY EMAIL AND PROVIDE THE INFORMATION REQUESTED ABOVE. IF I DO NOT RECEIVE ALL OF THE INFORMATION, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE.

Sign-up closes on February 7th (edited 2/5/07), and packages should be mailed by March 15th.

This swap must have an even number of Farmgirls to work since partners will be matched up one-to-one (you'll send directly to the same person from whom you receive a package). No limit on the number of partner-pairs.

FAQs:

Q: Who can join?

A: This is open to all MJF Farmgirls on this forum including our international girls - knitters and crocheters alike!

Q: How big should my dishcloths be?

A: Standard size dishcloths, or thereabouts. Dont send any that are too teeny or too huge! Pattern is completely up to you, but they MUST be hand-knit or hand-crocheted and you must include at least two dishcloths.

Q: What should I use to make my dishcloths?

A: Please use only cotton or other all-natural fiber yarn for your dishcloths. No synthetics or acrylics.

Q: How will I know who my pal is?

A: After sign-up closes, I will e-mail you with your partner's mailing information and preferences.

Q: What happens if I can't send my package by March 15th?

A: Please do not sign up unless you can commit to this deadline. That said, Farmgirls will completely understand if life gets in the way and you need a bit of extra time. Just drop a line to your pal and to me as soon as possible!

Q: How much should I spend on my pal?

A: This is up to you. However, I would suggest a minimum spend of $15, NOT including postage.

If there are other questions, let me know here. Okay Swappers, here we go!

Yes, I made the candles and I am so glad you like them. Just remember to keep your wick trimmed to about 1/4 of an inch. Maybe during your vacation you will get to relax some.

Sharon,

I received your package today. It was so much fun opening the box and finding all the little goodies inside. Unfortunately I don't have a camara I'll try to describe what Sharon sent me:

2 beautiful knit and crochet dishcloths, 1 handknitted in blue, the other crocheted in yellow

1 great-smelling soap with a name good enough to eat: White Chocolate Truffle. It came in a pretty galvanized minature tub with a cute wooden apple

Vintage Hanckerchief with pink and white roses and a scalloped edge

Lavendar milk bath salts

Beautiful earrings: purple beads with silver wire accents

An exfoliating body sponge

A magnetic pad with crocuses in a pot as the design

A gardening journal

A hand crocheted old-fashioned coin purse (with a lucky quarter inside) so cute!

Two Chapstick holders with yummy lip balms: one holder with a long cord to put around my neck, the other with a shorter cord (that's for my purse strap) My lips are always dry and I'm continously using the balms.

Sourdough starter: San Francisco style, now I can brag that my bread comes from California!

Two Bath and Body lotions: One in Cherry Blossom, the other in Fig and Brown Sugar. Love this stuff, unfortunately I have to drive to the mall to get it, I've been so lazy I haven't done so in a while, so now I have my lotions.

And last but not least, Sharon's daughter made for me the cutest pen: she covered it with floral tape and inserted a silk pansy (one of my favorite flowers) I think it's too pretty to use. Sharon, please thank your daughter for the beautiful pen. She is defintely creative.

I hope I haven't left anything out. I felt so good receiving all these beautiful itemsyou sent me. Again, thank you.

Julie,
We plant squash around mother's day here in Western WA.
I've been picking fennel now to use, along with some other snipets for the garden for flavor.
YUM .... Spring is here!!!

I posted a personal thank you, but I wanted to get a public "Thank You!" out also to Katrina! My box has 2 lovely dishcloths--one in spring-y colors and the other with a watering can knit into the design--cool!! Chocolate, herb seeds and pretty decorated planters, and a very, very cute "tea" light--I'll post pictures too if I can find the camera (DH took it, and I haven't re-located it yet) So, thanks, Katrina, and I'm glad you liked your goodies too!

Kristine I am so glad you enjoyed the package! I got the herb cuttings you sent me potted and I have started the fennel and basil seeds! When should I plant the winter squash seeds? This has been so fun!

I got my package today!!!!

I'll have to post a pic later, but here is what I got (man, do I feel spoiled!)

Two really beautiful dishcloths (I'm going to have a hard time using them, cause they're so pretty!)

I first pulled out a little blank book with a vintage French look to the cover (how did you know that I love vintage French posters??? :))
Then a raspberry flavored tea in it's own infuser, and a bag of tea called "African Nectar"
And something I'm not sure what it is... I think it's a spoon rest for your teaspoon? It's cute whatever it's for! :)
And a cute little white kitten! Who is so soft and adorable! :)
And a new mug, which is perfect, because I broke one and needed a new one, and it's beautiful!
Two Caledra dish soap samples, in Lavender Pine and Green Tea Patchouli- I wanted to try it, so now I can! :)
A cross-stitch kit, and a liberal sprinking of Ghiradelli chocolates- with 60% cacao, which is really important, because I've been eating dark chocolate when I have a sweet craving, and I've been spoiled! Dh gave me some cheap chocolate the other day, and I had to practically spit it out! So, that was really good. (Though, any Ghiradelli is good, actually :))
One of the squares is already gone. ;)

Oh, my goodness, Julie!!!!
What a surprize came in the mail today.
The box had the cutest 2 dishcloths (done beautifully by the way, especially for a gal who just taught herself!), 2 books I can't wait to read, a sweet pot with painting on it, garden gloves (I really needed a new pair), birdfeeding bell, and a organic dark chocolate bar.
My sweet daughter & I already had a little of it...yum!
Julie, you really out did yourself!!! Thanks ever so much!!!

I got my package today from Karin (mumof3) and I love it. Three dishcloths, I love the colors. Two skeins of fun, springy yarn, a beautiful daisy print apron that I am assuming you made, some rosewood knitting needles, pretty flower buttons, some beads that I think I will use to make more stitch markers, and some scrapbooking stuff-beautiful butterfly stickers and some quotes. I absolutely love it. Thank you so much Karin. I can't wait to dive in and use it all!
