I spotted this idea on the internet,,, and am thinking of trying it using an old towel... to make reuseable Swiffer type pads...

Has anyone made one of these and if so,,, how well do they work?

I made three of them and they are still useful, I used a white towel, which was probably a mistake, but it does the job and the cost is small.

Now, this is a great idea! I need a reusable system for my home too and this looks easy to do. Thanks for sharing!

I have a stiffer wet jet. I made some terry cloth pads with velcro added to attach to the base, I was able to make three pads from a hand towel. Easy to just use a towel that has seen better days. and then just throw them in the wash for the next time.

I know, Kat - great ideas. I need to get some fuzzy socks at the Dollar Tree and try it. Also the homemade solution. A lot cheaper.

Looks like those pads would work well. I had a wet swiffer, i made a simple pad out of 2 washclothes and velco. It worked ok, now i try to use them on my steam mop. in a crunch they work ok, but getting worn and they tend to curl up under the head of the steam mop.

I got this idea from Pinterest....Use rubber bands and wrp microfiber cloths around the swiffer base. You can toss them in the wash.

I tried knitting ones. They worked awhile and then got wonky, like Grace said.

Like the terry cloth idea.

I tried thr crocheted ones... but they tend to get wonky... and stretch out... so I am thinking maybe the terry cloth (double pieces for thickness) and... the polar fleece, perfect for 'dust bunnies' round up... lol!

Oh and as for 'pintresr '... I have to set a timer or else ai will be on there all day..... lol!

Great idea, Grace. Like many, I, too, hate Pinterest - too many ideas I want to make/do.

I have also seen crocheted Swiffer covers.

Great idea! The covers for the steamer I have is made from terry cloth and they work great. I imagine the toweling would work well for swiffing too. Bridge, the fleece sounds like it is a great idea for dry use.

Bridge,
I have done the same thing, I was able to get some fleece, at walmart I think the yard of fabric was less than 5 dollars, so I made some for my sister too.
Grace I have not tried this yet by I have it "pinned". That darn Pinterest taunts me every day with ideas, and no time to do them.....

I like that design, I use polar fleece cut in the swiffer size and just punch it in the holes\holders. However my holes\holders are getting worn and this gave me a great idea to use velcro when they finally break.

I use the swiffer dry and the polar fleece really pics up the hair and fuzz and dust well! You know how fleece is very stacticy (not sure that is a word) LOL It works in our benefit in this case.
