I just love to report on finished objects, but I can't post these to my blog just yet since they are gifts! The fingerless mitts are the ones that I've been talking about from Knitty.com ("Fetching") and I just love how they turned out. I finished them a few days ago but still have to block them. They're for my best friend who lives in chilly San Francisco (yes, chilly is relative, but she's always cold!). Her birthday is right around Valentine's, so I'll send them off in a care package! (The yarn is from KnitPicks.com and it's an alpaca/silk/merino blend. So soft and so affordable!)

The CD is another finished object to report, but not of the stitching variety. I'm just proud of myself for creating a "Ducky Birthday Mix" for Jackson's 1st birthday party this weekend. I bought "duck" children's music from iTunes, made a mix and printed CD labels. I burned 14 copies this morning and they're all done, just waiting for the birthday guests!

Jack is super into rubber ducks right now, so we thought this would be fun. It has everything from Ernie singing "Rubber Ducky" to Cab Calloway doing the "Duck Trot" to The Mouseketeers singing about "Donald Duck." So fun!

Off to finish knitting Dan's sock. I'm about one inch away from the first sock being completed and I want to finish it tonight before he goes out of town! AND, I want to cast-on for the second one tonight too...keep the momentum going!

Catherine :)

Thanks everyone! Rebekah - the mitts are a one-weekend project, if you don't have a 1-year old, that is. Very quick though, a couple of rented movies worth of knitting. I changed the pattern to include four cable twists in the cuffs and two cable twists at the knuckles since I wanted them to be a little longer all around. They are very cozy...don't you just love that little picot bind-off? I'd never tried that before so the first one took a little bit of pattern-reading, but I got the hang of it. I love them!

Thanks again for the comments! I love sharing stuff with you all!

Catherine :)

p.s. The CD is awesome and I do love it, but I'm already sick of the music. I went to sleep with "I Love My Duck" from VeggieTales in my head last night and I'm listening to "Macho Duck" right now with Jackson. He loves it and is "dancing" in the living room...that's what's important, right? :)

Catherine, Wow. Thoses mitts are beautiful. You are very talented. How long does a project like that take? And, I'm in awe that you were able to do that CD thing-a-ma-jig. Your recipients will be thrilled!

Amen, the gloves are adorable! I saw the same ones on Knitty and wondered about giving them a go. Cute!
