I get a lot of junk e-mail. My fault, because I subscribe to all these neat sites, then they send me mail regularly!

Anyway, I clicked on a link today and found these beautiful needlecases (for knitting needles) they really look "farmgirl-made" and I'll bet we could make them, or something kinda similar...
It wouldn't be too hard to draft up a pattern.

Arrgh - decided to do some organizing in my knitting room and found out that I was mistaken, I am missing the #7, #8, and #9 needles and two of the linking cords. :<

So obviously I either have some other UFO's to discover on those needles or maybe the set wasn't as complete as I am remembering....

That is why I need a needle case! Otherwise everything gets lost....

I've been looking through some of my other patterns and books while organizing and found a book by Mary Mulari (frequent guest on Sewing with Nancy) about sewing travel organizers. A number of the items in the book use placemats as foundations. I'm wondering why you couldn't use a placemat on the inside, felt a sweater and cut out a matching-sized piece, line the two with some heavy interfacing, then add a strip of fabric with stitching to hold the needles. Maybe a pocket or two on the inside...

I have an antique set of the Boye interchangeable circulars that I picked up at a farm auction for $5.00. I am missing the #7 needles and one of the connectors, but I use the rest and I love them. I actually prefer bamboo to the metal needles, though, but I like having an almost-complete set of needles in one easily located place.

I noticed the set of interchangeable needles in bamboo on the site that catherine posted. Has anyone used interchangeable needles? Do they work well?

Those are really neat but wow $52 thats a lot. I think they would be easy to make and could be used for crochet or knitting needles. I dont knit but i do crochet.

I dont knit but my sis does. Those little cases are so adorable. And I would imagine with all the talented gurlz on this site that someone could make these. Do I hear wheels turning in someones mind?!
Catherine, I am a huge organizational nerd too. One of my favorite stores...The Container Store! Ahhh!

A bit pricey, but VERY adorable. If I didn't already have my needles in cases, I'd seriously consider these. SO CUTE.

(I have the straight, circular and double-point cases from Halcyon Yarn in Bath, ME in "Matisse" fabric: http://www.halcyonyarn.com/knitandcrochet/knitneedleset.html - I bought the first two years ago while visiting out there and Dear Hubby bought the double-point case for me for Christmas this year. HEAVEN to have all my needles sorted and organized! Have I mentioned that I'm a huge organizational NERD?)

Catherine :)
