Here's my cutie with the craft she did for Christmas presents. Those guys are draft stoppers for doors or windows. We used girls' tights for the bodies of the snakes and rice for the filling. She did almost the entire project by herself. Aren't they cute? (Both the cutie and the cute winter craft!) Fun, easy and cute!

Thanks Rebekah. I think they will have fun too. Can't wait to start to collect some tights. I will let you all know how they turn out.

Hey, Betty Jo, We sooooo can't take credit for "inventing" that cute craft. A friend of ours found it somewhere on the Internet and told us about it. I wish I were creative enough to come up with something like that on my own! I think it would be great for your jungle week. Let us know how they turn out!

Thank you Rebekah and daughter!!!! My students are 4-5 but I think They could handle it in their art center. It will make a great center for our jungle week. Does your daughter have a name for these snakes? That way I would give her credit for the idea. If you have any other crafts that she likes to do and could pass them on I would love it as I am always looking for ideas that include skills like sewing, baking, creating. Thank you again,

Oh yes! We LOVE to share! She is 5 and did almost the entire project by herself. I started the small amount of sewing for her and tied the knots for the thread, but other than that, she was on her own. Super easy. Well, now that I think about it, I also helped her cut the legs off the tights and helped with the shape of the tongue.
Here's what you need: girl's tights, rice, needle and thread, googly eyes, red felt for tongue, ribbon for neck (does a snake have a neck?!).
Here's what you do: cut the legs off of the tights. Fill the tight-legs with rice. Sew the tail of the snake closed. Glue on the eyes. Glue or sew on the tongue. Decorate.
That's it! Easy. Cute. Fun to do. Appreciated. Useful. The perfect kids' craft.

How old is she? I'm always looking for new projects to do with my school kids? Would she share the directions?

Bramble, I actually feel yucky...and, to top that off I'm already bored outta my gourd! It hasn't even been a week and I'm going nuts. I'm so tired of not being able to do what I want. Thanks for asking tho. Soon, soon, soon. In the meantime, I'm going thru my pictures to see what might be interesting to share. Hmmm, Poor FarmGirl Friends...:)
