Okay, I had to giggle when I typed that subject title.

I found an auction on ebay where the seller is offering a "recipe" for waxed rag balls. (*giggle*) I know what rag balls are, but waxed ones? And how would one do make these? Are they for scenting up the room? Sounds intriguing but I hate to pay for something that may be common knowledge somewhere.

Thanks!

I think Tina's explanation is probably correct. Those sound pretty neat actually.
You might also use a ball in the middle so not to have to use so much fabric.

I think they probably follow the concept of the waxed teddy bears and stuffed animals, where they are dipped in a highly scented wax.
Seems to me you could make something like that yourself.

Just melt your wax, add an essential oil of your choice...dip away, and to hang them out to dry probably prior to dipping them loop a piece of yarn through a part of the fabric on the ball before you get ready to dip them, when dipped you could hang them somewhere to dry with a wax paper lined cookie sheet underneath to catch the drips. That way too, you can reuse the wax that drips off of them.
