I am starting this thread so people can showcase quilts, table runners, wall hangings, and any other projects they have made with the squares they receive from the almost-monthly 10" squares swaps (AKA Layer Cakes in the quilting world) that I host under the Farmgirl Swaps category. We have been having a great time increasing our variety of stash fabrics with these swaps. Look interesting? Check us out!

Here is the quilt top I made using the Christmas squares, adding a few of my own stash and double sashing. All it needs is a border and then it can be quilted.

Let's revitalize this topic. Has anyone finished any more 10" square projects? Let's see what you have done!

I believe I posted - somewhere - the directions for the Christmas quilt I posted in the first post of this thread. I cannot find them. If you have them would you please email them to me? Thank you!

Here is the quilt using the farm girl 10” squares. I got it back from the Longarm quilter last week.

I have another quilt of two to post pictures of here. I will try to do that tomorrow. Does anyone else have more of their 10” squares completed in projects or quilts? We all would love to see them.

Here is a picture of my finished 10" music squares quilt. I gave it to Ed's son and his wife for Christmas. They are very active in music in their church.

Linda and Bonnie, thank you.
I need to find a pattern to use my patriotic fabrics from 2 years ago. I bought a couple of extra fabrics for that group too...

That is so cute, Denise. I love your Easter quilt.

My music squares quilt will also have 36 squares when finished.

You are welcome to copy me, Jana. I copied it from a quilt I saw in one of the quilting emails I get. It's not hard - for these 10" squares I cut 10" x 2-1/2" sashing strips, 1-1/2" squares to make half-square triangles on all four corners of the sashing strips; then used 2-1/2" squares in the corners. I love the way it is looking.

The projects are all cute Linda, but by far my favorite is the last one with the stars! So much so I may copy you!

Here are some tops (one unfinished so far) I've made with 10" squares from our 10" square swaps:

Christmas squares made into a Christmas Wonky Stars Bedrunner

Boys squares - quilt top for future baby boy (none that I know of, yet)

Music squares - I love all the different musical squares we swapped, and I saw this sashing with corner stars on line and I had to use it for this quilt, but it takes a lot of pieces and a lot of sewing to finish each row. The star points and corner stones are a black-on-black with treble clef design. This is only half the quilt. When the top is done, I will add another border.

Oh, no! They can be used for craft projects, mini aprons, stuffed animals, or whatever you want. They are to build your stash.

I've made a few microwave bowl potholders with some, and plan to use some for towel toppers, table runners, wall hangings, etc. LOL!

Does our squares have to be used in a quilt? I am thinking of using them in a stuffed teddy bear or rabbit. Has anyone else ventured out of the whelm, if so, what did you make?

Nancy, yes I added squares to make 30. Wanted it to be easy and it was not so bad. I did 5 across and 6 down so it was just a little longer than wide. Made the top and cut batting to fit the top. Then I measured the back 1 1/2 inc wider all the way around. Centered the quilt top and batting and started stitching. To finish I folded over the excess for the edging. Very simple but quick. I am ready for the next one.

Nancy -

I know I have added squares to several of the swap square sets to make a quilt larger or more of the measurements I want. For the music quilt I am making I think I am adding quite a few to make the quilt 6 across and 6 down, plus the sashing.
