Crafty ladies,

I have this memory of a movie, I'm pretty sure was Sarah Plain and Tall but I could be wrong, in which the main character had this really awesome apron. It like wrapped around to cover her whole outfit and had a criss cross back. That is all I remember really. I'm going to see if I can find the movie to get more specifics but what I'm wondering is if any of you know what I'm talking about and know where to get a pattern for it? I would really like to make one.

Thanks!

Sabrina

Try www.sensibility.com. I believe it is called the Edwardian apron. Her patterns are quite good and asy to follow

I made a similar old-fashioned apron and like you said - it is LARGE. It is too large for me, and can't be cinched up.

I made that exact apron from paisley pincushion. It takes a lot of fabric and is a little tricky with the scallops, but it definitely is full coverage! It's generously sized, so if you're on the petite side, you'll probably be drowning in it because you can't really cinch it up like you can with apron strings. With all that said, it's a cute apron and a fun trip down nostalgia lane.

Alicia -

Which patterns are you wanting to get? Are they from the paisley pincushion? If so, put in the pattern name; she also sells them on eBay.
Or from the googling of Sarah Plain and Simple? I can try to find.

I see several patterns I'd like from there, but don't see how to order.

Have you tries "Naomi's Sense and Sensibility". Google that. I also looked up Sarah Plain and Tall apron (google). There are photos of Sarah in her apron. Love that style.

I have an APO address (which is basically a US address on base here) so shipping should be the same if she doesn't mind doing a customs form. Thanks!!

I love aprons, and make and sell them, too. This is a very neat pattern and definitely looks comfortable. I may have to get one for me - on eBay she sells them for same price with Free Shipping. Sobyn is in Germany, so may not be free shipping overseas.

Linda -- I bought patterns from the Paisley Pincushion years ago and I dearly LOVED them!!! They are multi-size (the garments, anyway), but so well worth the extra effort. The details are wonderful and everything looks so cute made up in quilting cottons. I bet the apron will be wonderful!

Found one!
http://www.paisleypincushion.com/product/the-scalloped-apron-pattern/

It doesn't tie in the front. This one has no ties. If you added ties you would need a "slot" in one side to pass the "underneath" tie through.

I think what you are looking for is called a "Cobbler" or "Prairie" apron. I've found lots on line that meet in the middle on the back or slip over the head, but not one yet that crosses over in the back. I know at one time I've seen one though.

Hay there,

I believe I have that pattern. You put it on like a shirt but backwards and then it ties in the front with a wide tie. mine has large pockets on each side and a bodice that is high at the neck line. If I can find it I will post a photo.
