HELP!
I have come into some large coffee bags. They feel kinda burlapy.
I need some ideas for what to do with them.
I was thinking tote and messenger bags. Then I thought mug rugs or tablet covers might be fun.
Then it dawned on me that I have never made any of these things or used coffee bags before. Can you even sew coffee bags? Do they fray?

a trick I used when I sewed burlap curtains for one of my little trailers,,, I ran a piece of masking tape down the burlap(topside) where your stitching will be...to control the fibers from clogging my sewing machine as well as the burlap fibers from shifting... and be sure to change out to a new needle after you have finished sewing your burlap. Also clean out the shaft and your bobbin casing and housing area after sewing on burlap.

I would stretch them around a frame and hang them up... would be cute anywhere.

Coffee bags could be sewn, but might be a little rough on a sewing machine. Since they are made of more twine-like threads they would shed a lot and the dust/filaments could get into the sewing machine mechanism and collect there, then they could harm the machine.

You could possibly make totes with them, but I would line them with fabric. I'm not sure the bags would be suitable for mug rugs, but you could try it.
