Is there an easy two needle pattern for knitting socks. I can knit but nothing fancy. I thought I would like to try and knit some socks.

Actually knitting on 4 needles isn't so bad once you get the hang of it. You're really just knitting on two needles all the time and the third and fourth needles are just hanging there, holding stitches, until you get to them. Then you have an empty needle again, and needle #3 becomes needle #2, and so on. The first row is a little tricky at the join, but once you're past that, you're home free.

I start at the top of the sock ribbing with 60 stitches on #1 needles for a medium-sized woman's foot, using the beautiful self-striping sock yarns that are 75% wool and 25% nylon. You can knit quite a while K1 P1 until you get six or seven inches of ribbing done.
I haven't tried the 2 circular method yet but it looks interesting.

OK, I found this one too - http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/free_patterns/socks.php look at the upper right corner for a fuzzy sock that is rated "beginner" and says it uses two needles.

Have you thought about doing two at once, on either 2 circular needles, or 1 long circular needle. I really enjoy doing both at the same time. It can get a little confusing once in a while, but I think being done with both is well worth it. No counting rows to try to get them the same length. Got the pattern for toe up socks from www.KnitPicks.com Good luck Michele
